Sorry, I promise I will never use an nearly unpronounceable word like "philology" again.

Just wanted to point out that "canceled" is not incorrect, otherwise some well-known U.S. newspapers would be an example of illiteracy.

But language is not static, it is exposed to a lot of influences and it constantly changes, especially in countries which attract large numbers of immigrants. Not to mention changes to the official spelling rules that are made on purpose. It doesn't matter whether you write "cancelled" or "canceled"; both are widely used and accepted.
