They picked the wrong song. They should have done a rock song. It sounded as if they actually wanted to sing Walk This Way or Love In An Elevator.
Voices per se are neither "good" nor "bad". It depends on what you do with it. I also don't think that Meat's voice is worse now than it used to be. It's just different. This is something that happens to most singers as they grow older and they have to find a way to cope with it. Whenever I witnessed him performing a song badly, he seemed to be tense. When he was relaxed, the show went well.
Whether a duet works or not doesn't depend so much on whether the voices match but more on the song and on how well the singers perform as a team.

i agree that meats voice has just changed, and you are correct also that if meat has a good night [ boy is he good ] he is still a great singer
