Personally I think it's more a case of Meat having an on stage snipe at those young hip music journalists who like to put the words "ageing rocker" in the same context as the words "Meat Loaf" (or any other rock star who shaves regularly). I'm sure there's a lot of truth in that :) .. also I think there's perhaps something about him now embracing his age more and making light of it .. As to him saying on stage he's 60 rather than 61 .. perhaps like many of us as he hits a decade he's happy to just refer to that rather than count each year through it .. lol
But his birth year IS 1947 according to the state records. I've seen his birth registration, and his birth is officially listed there as 27 September 1947, which is pretty definitive to me :). The official hatched/matched/despatched records are difficut to change!
