I think this just goes to show the depth of the stalking capabilities of Twitter...they know you even before you register! Hahah! Only joking!
To be honest, I think Twitter is a greater stalker's paradise than FB...seeing as unless your profile is specifically private - as most appear not to be - anyone can follow you... after taking my profile off private for just one week, I had gained a group of followers I'd never even heard of! (If any of them are any of you and I've removed you, my apologies...but I prefer to know my stalkers. I mean followers. Or whatever they are.)
Additionally, there is no requirement for them to follow you back (I could be following my boss, without her following me...for example [just to clarify, I am not following my boss, but you get the gist!) - unlike on fb where you have to agree to be 'friends' to let the stalking commence. I guess there is also the fact that you can be following someone with no claim that you are their friend or fan, just that you are following them!
