No matter how many times I hear Jim and Bat musical in the same sentence, it still makes me laugh.
I don't think there was a lack of funding for TDE, I think Jim was wanting a big pay deal for something that wasn't established and gave up. In theory there's no reason why TDE as a touring group with guest artists couldn't work.
