LA isn't going to get people to want to listen to the whole album if anything it would make them not want to listen. Many will indeed agree (as do I mostly) but Meat and Cavallo really seemed to have thought LA and Like a Rose were THE singles for this album and they started with those songs. I don't really get it either. I think LA is more of a filler personally. It is indeed fun to see the tv crowds react well to it but it's not a typical bombastic or vocally powerful Meat song. But I think that is exactly what he wanted to do, more bluesy/country/rock-ability, whatever you would call this mix of music. Like the album title he probably thought that would have the most impact "hey guys you haven't seen me do this before".
