California is stupid in a funny way but the problem is that someone who just hears the song and hasn't heard Meat's explanation of what it is actually about can easily take it the wrong way. I have no issues with Hawkins as a songwriter, he's a very good musician, too, but I hope a new album will be more "mature" (which doesn't mean that it has to be devoid of humor).
