NOBODY can look down the list of those in the HALL and tell me that Meat Loaf does not belong!!! I suspect somewhere along the line he has pissed off the music industry because he is his own man, has great personal integrity, and does things the way he thinks they should be done......and Thank God for it! No one gives as much on stage as Meat does. In the past, I have only witnessed this on television of film. However, on August 30, 2010 in Orlando, FL I got to witness it live and in person. ENOUGH SAID!!!
.... Meat belongs there! VOTE him in!

I agree .. and I also agree there IS a point. Meat's made a pretty outstanding contribution to rock'n'roll; a landmark album which continues to remain one of the best selling rock albums of all time, and over 30 years of delivering spectacular shows .. my opinion, but that of many others also. Problem is that the nominating body is a very political organisation in a business sense where if you're with the right label you get nominated, and the chairman exercises an iron control as far as I can make out from numerous articles I've read over the years deploring the nominating procedure. And Meat's not one to curry favour as you say. He's his own man and doesn't court honours. We've hosted and sent in many petitions since he became eligible for inclusion, all to no avail. We've even asked performers (who are included and thus can nominate), and who know him and his music, but have had no response .. and if he's not nominated he can't get votes. But without his presence imo a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame lacks something important, and whilst he may not court it, I'm sure he'd be chuffed to be included. He still treasures his Grammy

Not offensive imo .. nor pointless. And although it's been debated before, as a newcomer it's in my view a perfectly reasonable concern to express. As you say, it was before you joined, is pretty well buried I suspect in the annals, and the fact that his fans on here think he's wonderful, and many more fans not registered here, doesn't take away from the fact that his contribution deserves recognition from the music industry (although the rather parochial HoF nominating body are to me hardly representative of the music industry as a whole).

I've spent the past week on the road....with my new "Hang Cool Teddy Bear" CD playing. I had apprehension at first as to how much I'd like it......but no more. I don't know about you guys.....but I love it! I think it may be one of the best things he's done.

Agree completely. Pure Meat, pure masterpiece to me
