Before I start my "rant", I'd just like to state the following. I found this web site about a week ago thanks to Suzieq and her husband. Hanging out here has been great. I'm impressed by the amount of "younger" fans on here. My journey following Meat Loaf began in 1978...probably before many on here were born. It's great to see that he has so many younger fans, surely a testament to his passion to perform and his ability to reach all groups of people.
As I mentioned, I've been a fan since 1978 when I first saw Meat on Saturday Night Live. Through 32 years, I've listened to everything he's done. I'm sure many of you are drawn to Meat Loaf for a variety of reasons. For me, it has always been the genuine quality of his performance, the commitment to his craft, and the uncompromising way he has handled his career and his music. I'm fortunate to work in the world of professional athletics ( Major League Baseball). Through that experience, I have gotten to see and know many great professional athletes. The qualities that I have admired in some of them are the same that makes Meat Loaf my favorite performer. When you watch Meat, it is easy to see that he is out there for much more than fame and money. This guy LOVES to perform.....and genuinely cares about the performance he gives his fans every time out.
NOW...for my RANT!!!
How in the HELL is Meat Loaf NOT in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? I'm a talent evaluator of sorts for a big league baseball team.....and don't profess to be an EXPERT in music. BUT.....please give me a freakin break!!! I may not be one of the 500 EXPERTS who decide who gets into the Hall of Fame, but I'll be damned if I don't know greatness when I see it! NOBODY can look down the list of those in the HALL and tell me that Meat Loaf does not belong!!! I suspect somewhere along the line he has pissed off the music industry because he is his own man, has great personal integrity, and does things the way he thinks they should be done......and Thank God for it! No one gives as much on stage as Meat does. In the past, I have only witnessed this on television of film. However, on August 30, 2010 in Orlando, FL I got to witness it live and in person. ENOUGH SAID!!! The countless stories I've read about his interaction with his fans and the way he treats them is impressive. I hope to someday have the pleasure to shake the mans hand and tell him how much I've enjoyed his work through the years.
So.....to the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.......wake the hell up!!! Do your freakin job! Nominate...and then vote this man into the Hall! Until you do....the Hall is NOT complete. There are many great performers in the Hall. Some performed at the 25th Anniversary show that was carried on HBO. They were all great and it was a blast to see them again. BUT......Meat belongs there! VOTE him in!
RANT OFF:
I'm sorry if I used any language that would be considered offensive to this forum. I don't usually get this worked up....but I do have my moments.

I've spent the past week on the road....with my new "Hang Cool Teddy Bear" CD playing. I had apprehension at first as to how much I'd like it......but no more. I don't know about you guys.....but I love it! I think it may be one of the best things he's done.
PS.....I'll try not to "rant" too often.
