They may have said that there was criticism about Meat being here simply because ages ago right at the beginning when it was just rumoured that Meat would be coming (when fans like me jumped to our feet and thought all our Christmasses had come at once) a bunch of no-brain journalists started crapping on about why we need to get out past their best (BAH!!!! - and some weren't this restrained - dumbasses
) AMERICANS out to promote the Grand Final. It has nothing to do with it actually being Meat Loaf - it happens every year. Perhaps this year was a little worse for it though because last year the NRL hyped that Billy Idol was gonna sing and then just blew it and his roadies stuffed up and the sound and mics and stuff didn't work and he never did perform...
The answer to all this of course is that we don't need to get Meat out to promote the game and that maybe, just maybe, he was brought out because he's fecking awesome and would ROCK! at the Grand Final. But hey, what would I know
