That had always distinguished the Bond movies from average action / spy thrillers: The humor, the crazy villains, the gadgets, the mysterious (sometimes dangerous) ladies and the often unrealistic scenarios. I miss the movies starring Sean Connery, Gert Fröbe, Lotte Lenya, Roger Moore, Richard Kiel, Grace Jones, etc. They were fun. I stopped watching the Bond series after Casino Royale. One of the many reasons why I did was the lack of an interesting, entertaining villain.

The only Bond movies I really enjoyed were the ones starring Pierce Brosnan

Yes, that's a very good movie, too. Interesting mix of drama and black comedy. (Melanie Griffith and the hat box... ). Meat was brilliant as the violent sheriff. I especially liked the scenes at the court with the great Rod Steiger as the judge.

Exactly. I enjoyed the mix, and thought Meat was brilliant too.
I really liked the court room scenes, but one of my favorites was at the pool when Meat (Sheriff Doggett) pulled the young man off the fence. The first time I watched it, he actually scared the heck out of me
