The ballads are the weak spots on his recent albums, in my opinion. I dare to say that he hasn't recorded a great ballad since
WTTN (unless you call
Blind As A Bat a ballad). Many of them sound like something suitable for Celine Dion or Michael Bolton but not for a
rock (!) singer who used to have huge bats and motorcycle-riding musclemen on his album covers.
My choice:
Everything Louder
Original Sin
Testify
Blind As A Bat
Prize Fight Lover (!!!)
There are more I'd like to pick but I'll restrict the list to the
Bat II to
HCTB period and one song per album for now.
