Considering that the socialist countries usually had to pay license fees and wouldn't spend money on western artists that weren't popular, I assume there were Meat Loaf fans in the Soviet Union. It's just a bit strange that it was
that album because labels like Melodiya used to focus on well-known, successful records or released their own "Best of" compilations. (The Soviet
BBIS has some info on Meat Loaf and his career printed on the back cover, a typical feature of East European records of that time.)
