My favorite version of that song was the one I saw last November. I couldn't find any video of that show, but this one is a reasonable facsimile. (I might add that I was standing at the front left corner of the little pit stage, which turned out to be a very good spot: )

That's an excellent question; I think it is some combination, but you have to have a great song to start with. It's interesting how many artists have covered Dylan's songs, yet for the ones I've heard, I almost always like the cover versions better. This makes me think that Dylan is a great songwriter, but not necessarily the best performer.
