You could say that about any of the members of the NLE over the decades, the band line up has changed pretty frequently and the live shows have still rocked.
To ask the question "was she needed" is fairly insulting don't you think? Whatever the contribution, CC made a contribution to the band and to the shows and to our entertainment. For that she deserves a little more respect I think.
