That is why in The Netherlands they've just decided to charge a
thuiskopieheffing (home copy surcharge, i.e., a 'tax' to compensate for the legal copies you may make for private practice, study or use) on PC's, mobile phones, memory cards, etc.
(Also, downloading copyrighted material, even from an illegal source, still remains legal in over here.)
