Heres my two cents..

I am sad to see Meat Loaf go, but not at all surprised. There are an awfull lot of people on this site at the moment who are touting "why can't Meat Loaf take criticism"- well, I've been pretty mute on this topic, but now I'm gonna have my say as well.

Most of the criticism I have read of Meat on this site, and several others, is not worded as 'criticism' but rather as an attack. When you attack somebody, it forces them to defend themselves. Now, I'm not going to start pointing fingers (because that's rediculous it's nobody's FAULT) but I encourage those, who think Meat Loaf can't take criticism, to re-read the critical posts on this site and ask themselves the following question:

"If somebody said this to me, how would I react"

Now- before I get a flood of responses saying how 'YOU' would not mind being talked to in that way at all, and how 'YOU' can accept criticism with their head high etc.- let me make it clear- I don't want an answer- I want you to look at the criticisms and think about it, and instead of defending your 'point of view' try to do some soul searching and answer the question honestly, for yourself.

No, I don't think Meat Loaf will come back here- and that saddens me, and I don't think I will be able to *pay* for his site, as I am quite poor.

I still hope he will come to Canada so I can see my favorite artist in concert -one last time- before he hangs up his mircrophone.

I've being on a few message boards and I have never before seen the kind of crap that goes on here on those. This board has become nothing but a bitching board and it's a small group of people that have it this way, with their over protection of Meat. It's these people who have the board the way it is and it's these people that have forced Meat and others way from it. They keep hounding the people who have negative things to say about Meat and then get their mates to log on and join their bandwagon and make the negative poster feel like s hit. It's amazing, once a negative post goes up, and one of this small group sees it, the number of their cronies that sign in and post goes through the roof. Also if members of this elite group do anything that might offend Meat outside of this board, and it gets mentioned here, they waste no time in trying to get it silenced or removed because it shows them for what they really are, hypocrites. It's ok for them to do or say something that might offend Meat elsewhere, but may the wrath of god descend on anyone who upsets Meat here.
Thanks for your opinion, Manheim- and No I doubt THAT would get you kicked off this board, but I hope you don't mind me responding to it? I don't think the issue is so much one of people hounding those who have 'negative' things to say, but rather how the negative thought is worded...For instance- if you use the search function under Tyre Tracks and broken hearts, you'll find that I posted a VERY negative review of 'Where the Rubber Meets the Road" and that I wasn't attacked. Why? Because I don't have any trouble criticising something without tearing it limb from limb.

Having said that- I've recently retired from the Jim Steinman board for the opposite reason- every single time I posted anything POSITIVE about Meat Loaf, I was attacked (I don't care if people from the Jim Steinman fight are offended, it's true and I'M sick of pussyfooting around THAT- the JS site is what it is- and that's just my bloody opinion)

So you are incorrect, Manheim, when you say THIS site is the only one who have a majoral point of view.

I'm sorry to see Meat Loaf go on his way, as it'll probably be MY last contact with him (theres no concert dates in Canada and I'm quite poor) but it's his decision, and if HE IS as hurt as he seems- I'd do the same thing- Why go someplace that makes you feel crappy, eh?
