He played the game, played it well, and won money for his charity (as well as raising awareness).
Did it make him a major star selling records world wide? He was that already.
He blew up on Gary, but did it hurt his career? Nope.
So no harm done (except maybe putting rap on a Meat Loaf record
) and a lot of good done for his charity.
Overall, a pretty good result
