Hi Folks,
Don't get excited this isn't a real project but I wondered, if Meat would have done a Musical Theatre album what tracks would you have wanted to have had on there. Meat recorded loads of musical theatre tracks in his career. I'd be looking for rock musicals to be included in this volume but I'd have liked obviously new versions of Aquarius from Hair, Hot Patootie and Eddie's Teddy from Rocky Horror, then we could include the past recorded More Than You Deserve, Oh What a Beautiful Morning (from the Welcome to the Neighbourhood sessions) and Tear Me Down from Hedwig and the Angry Inch which is on Couldn't Have Said it Better. Here's two for starters - I'd have loved to have heard Meat's version of Where Did the Rock Go from School of Rock - which Jim Steinman contributed to. And of course What Part of My Body Hurts the Most from the Bat out of Hell Musical. What are your thoughts? |

Off the top of my head, Meat talked in his memoir about almost being the character who sings "Greased Lightning" in Grease, only to turn it down for a new production of Rainbow that didn't pan out (although, being Equity deputy, he made sure the cast got paid for the run they'd have done). I wouldn't mind hearing what it could have sounded like if he took the job on a "Broadway" album.
