Default Michael Whelan Lecture

On The Art Of Fantasy

Jan. 20

An artist whose specialty is fantasy and science fiction will give an illustrated lecture Sunday at the Danbury Library.

Michael Whelan, who has created more than 350 book and record album covers since 1980 and has won 15 Hugo Awards, science fiction's counterparts to the Oscars, will speak from 2 to 4 p.m. at the library, 170 Main St., Danbury.

He has done his other-worldly illustrations for books by Stephen King and Isaac Asimov, for the Franklin Mint and for Sepultura and Meatloaf. His painting "Asylum" is pictured above.

His talk is free; the snow date is Jan. 27. For information, call 203-797-4505.

— Carole Goldberg

Found here. Anyone over the pond able to go to this?

He not only painted the cover for Bat II but also The Very Best Of album. His artwork was also used for the illustrations inside the Bat II CD booklet and some of the official T-shirts.
