We all have our favorite official frying pan (Jim or Meat's). Now its time to see which is truly the best of the official releases.

For Me: MSO is better then all others combined.

Nothing beats any song off of 'Bad For Good' IMO, all other versions are inferior.

It all has to do with the arrangements.

The background vocals on this song are insane. And the intro is waaaay better.

This is just me. As some of you may have noticed I'm a huge JS mark.

Sometimes I (albet in a guilty way) actually wish jim never existed and Meat made all these great masterpieces. Hed be so much more of a god!

If Meat made these masterpieces then every song would be like Midnight At The Lost And Found.

Anyway, I prefer the rockier arrangement of Jim's studio version but he can't sing for shit, so I would say Meat's is better. If 3 Bats had better vocals and no sax then it would easily be my favourite out of them all. Sadly the slow part has been edited out of the Live Around The World version, and the one from MSO is missing the tuneful part of the intro and quite a few 'and into the fire's. Overall I'll go for the Bat 2 version.

I went for the Meat studio version, also. My only requirement for it is that it is turned up f'n loud.

im havin to do back to back listens, first was mso... i had honestly forgotten how good that performance was, next was live around the world... i preferred it, as it seemed more punchy, more alive, more vibrant, especially the guitars, now on bat 2 version... awesome, there is so much going on in there musically and vocally that can't be captured in a live show... (the problem i have with bat 2 is, i'm still, almost 20 years on finding little surprise and delight riffs and melodies :) ) infact its getting 2 listens lol, next shall be the original recording..

i reckon the bat 2 album version is my fave

(but that could change)

nothing whatsoever. Just if he and meat were the same person bat 3 wouldve been different and the music that exists now would be so much more extravagant.

I've honestly never liked Frying Pan live. The studio version is one of my favourite songs of all time, but the live arrangement has just never done it for me. There's so little power in it compared to what's on the record. The guitar riffs in particular strike me as ridiculously weak in comparison. I dunno

The intro seems rushed, and when you get to the actual "Out of the Frying Pan" line at the end of the chorus, that's when I just lose interest because it's presented so blandly. There's a pulse in the studio version on that line in the studio that's not there live, and it ruins it for me.

So yeah. My vote goes to the Bat 2, studio version :P
