Default Bad Atttitude 30th Anniversary Edition

Released on 5th May. Good news because it's a wonderful album and it deserves a wider audience.

Bad news because it's the UK version and not the superior US remix. Also there's no mention of a remaster, or a bonus DVD of Bad Attitude Live, or anything else that I don't already own.

No bonus Tracks (IE: Stand By Me, Clap Your Hands, and Take a Number) and no bonus DVD of BA Live. Ugh... 30 year anniversary my ass

The album is only 40 minutes long. The three extended mixes, Take A Number and Bat Out Of Hell live would all fit nicely on a single CD.

infonet@cherryred.co.uk is the address to send politely written requests for extra material. Perhaps if they receive enough emails they may do something about it?

I doubt it, but it's worth a shot.

Its the principle. This is disgusting. I am getting tired of the lack of respect us hardcore meat loaf fans get sometimes. Id like something released just for us for a change

The principle? I think the hardcore fans would definitely appreciate the addition of the extended versions. What respect do you want? I have a great amount of respect for your website and the time put into it. As I do for any of the other Meat Loaf sites that offer all the hard to find bits and pieces.
Is this site only for pure hard core fans?

I mean even Bat Out of hell 1 hasn't gotten any bonus tracks since its deluxe edition with Bolero and Bat 15 years ago....

Like Why no legacy edition? ugh all the greta neat stuff is stuck in vaults none can listen to or see.

It is puzzling why they don't put more effort in. As superb as Bad Attitude is, an 80's sounding Meat Loaf album is appealing to a pretty niche market. Anyone who wants a copy has had 30 years to buy one so I suspect a lot of sales will be down to Meat Loaf fans and collectors that already own the album. I would rather more music than a fancy booklet, but what do I know? Last year Bat Out Of Hell got to number 9 with a 3D cover and no new material.

Perhaps I'm not seeing this. Why can't original albums be left as they are?
It's a moment in time that needs to be preserved and not dressed up in the latest fashion.

I believe you misunderstand my point. By 'put more effort in' I meant add something extra to the package, not remove the 80's from it.

I wouldn't even do that!
When you see OAP'S don't think old doddery folk. Think Original Album Preservation Society.

Yeah, I think the point remains 'who's gonna buy it?'

Answer? No one who's already got it.

Wait- is this MLUKFC or BTX? This sounds familiar...

Kidding aside, I really do think Bat 1 deserves the box set treatment.

Bad Attitude is a great album (Modern Girl, Piece of the Action, Cheatin' in Your Dreams? Anyone? ), but this re-release is pointless and sounds exactly like all those compilations that are put out by the label for a cheap buck. They could put the extended remixes on it, outtakes from the sessions (they had to have recorded more than ten-eleven songs at the time, surely), video footage from the studio, a DVD from one of the Bad Attitude concerts we haven't seen before, re-release the one that's already out there who's name I've forgotten, anything.

No one is going to buy this

Sent Cherry Red an email to ask them why can't at least the three B-sides from this album and a possible live show on DVD can't be included otherwise it's ^ pointless and worthless.

No matter how great the album is (which it is).

Unlike Meat's other albums there is quite a bit of stuff out there in the public domain that could have been pulled together for this album to make a really decent box set - extended mixes, US remixes, B sides, take a number etc plus a nice DVD re-release of the great Bad Attitude concert. Shame, missed opportunity

Following up on my email sent to CR:

...they've forwarded my comments onto the project manager responsible for consideration. Hopefully it's more than consideration and it actually gets done. It would be good if more Meat re-issues (especially if through Cherry Red) came with all available B-sides.

I got a response from CR. I couldn't find how to edit my post (apologies for that) so this is the second response:

The project manager responsible for the release obviously knew of B-sides and such ('plenty of material to include') but the standard nine-track re-issue was the only version 'that could be approved for release'.

So who has rights to the B-sides, live shows, alternate mixes then?

I had a similar reply and it is disappointing. I imagine Cherry Red only have the rights to rehash existing products and Sony retain the rights to everything else. As Sony seem perfectly happy to put out crummy compilations twice a year, the chance of getting digital versions of the B-sides is infinitesimally small. The more years that pass, the more the potential audience for these products diminishes. How many people would be interested in a 50th anniversary edition? How many of Meat's fan base will be dead or deaf by then?

The B sides I really don't care too much about. They are a passing interest. I think the album would attract a new audience if they released it with the extended versions of Modern Girl, Piece of the Action and Surfs up.

I have great sounding stereo rips of each beside anyway. Its just ashamed we can't get fully mastered digital versions.

Everything from the BA Live show was remastered audio found on the bottom line 1985 disk, which could easily pass as a disk 2 of bad attitude
