Unhappy Crocodile Hunter dies...

Just read this...

Quote:
SYDNEY (Reuters) - Steve Irwin, the quirky Australian naturalist who won worldwide acclaim, was killed by a stingray barb through the chest on Monday while diving off Australia's northeast coast, emergency officials and witnesses said.

"Steve was hit by a stingray in the chest," said local diving operator Steve Edmondson, whose Poseidon boats were out on the Great Barrier Reef when the accident occurred.
"He probably died from a cardiac arrest from the injury," he said.

Police and ambulance officials later confirmed Irwin had died and said his family had been advised.
I love watching this guy on the tv. Very sad. RIP Steve.

This news has really shocked the world. Steve Irwin was a really great guy, and a true lover of animals. I really enjoyed watching his shows, and his death will be a great loss to his profession. Hopefully his work will be carried on by his family and others, in his name. All out thoughts our with his family at this time.

R.I.P Steve Irwin.

Are you all nuts? He was such an idiot I mean he was not doing documentay films, just lurid wildlife show. The man was so irresponsible, most because took his son (not older than 2 years I think) to the wild animals.

Never saw such an irresponsible guy.

I am nod said because his dead. Sooner or later, it had to happen, because he did such lurid and crazy actions for his pseudo wildlife show.

I am sorry for his family, but not for him.

I'm sorry to have heard the news, I've always enjoyed watching his shows, and I think he was the best of the rash of impersonators who seem to have come wandering along after him...

Maybe he wasn't the most responsible of people (I saw the clip of him taking his son into the croc enclosure too) but he's done a lot for the conservation of endangered species all around the world - RIP Steve.

It's a sad loss indeed, but you kinda felt it was going to happen sooner or later. You don't mess around with crocodiles and deadly snakes like he did and not accept a certain life threatening risk.

I feel bad for his wife and kids, they hadn't been informed of his death before the news agencies started broadcasting it.

A very sad loss indeed. He did amazing work for animal conservation. Some of his stunts I'm sure were purely for entertainment value but it was his fearless approach to extremely dangerous animals and his knowledge and charismatic personality that opened the world's eyes to how endangered many species are.

RIP Steve.

Sorry, but for me he is as charismatic as George W. Bush and 50 cent.

Luckily his freak "crocodil show" was cancelled in german tv and how could I respect some one who takes his own baby-son to the crocodiles?!

I don't agree with some here. This guy done amazing work, and loved animals. Sure he took risks, but he was living life to the full, and the shows he made , were to show , how beautiful these creatures are. His death is a big loss, wonderful man.

This is really shocking news - found out today at school in Biology..... I am really upset as he has done alot of work over the years and leaving two kids - aged 3 and 8 with a wife running a zoo is quite sad.... I wish the best for Teri and co and I hope they will continue the running of the zoo for many years to come and I rekon, Steve would be VERY proud of her and his kids..

This news still hasn't really sunk in!
I cannot believe that he has died in this way, he was always a risk taker and nothing seemed to faze him, I guess he died doing what he loved doing but it is still a tragedy, he still had the rest of his life and two beautiful children.
My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends at this sad and lonely time.

shock, sadness, thoughts for terri, bindi and bob......

Steve encouraged so many young people to become interested in wildlife..

Steve had a unique manner, and will greatly missed by all the children and adults whose lives he touched with his many television programmes..

I sincerely hope that his work and conservation will be a lasting legacy to such a 'daredevil'....

My thoughts, too. Didn't know about the bad imforming times, though.
Didn't really watch any of his shows, but when you think he was only 44 and had the two kids, it is quite sad; especially considering only one other person has been recorded as dying from a stingray sting in Australia!

He was apparantly stabbed in the chest with the stingray's barb (the tail which is long and like a serated knife) which is apparantly a big problem amonst fisherman over there.
This is what i have just read don't know it to be true myself though
