I dont think this has already been posted, but sorry if it has. Basically the single is on amazon.co.uk now and the track listing is as follows...

1. Man Of Steel (Radio Edit)
2. Tear Me Down (Live)
3. Love You Out Loud (Live)

also it has a picture of the artwork, pretty interesting, its very good i like it.

You can see the picure at

http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/...650603-7488612

On a side note, was there a promo video made for man of steel? If so what is it like as i have not seen it

Cool artwork, I like it, nice to have a couple of new live tracks as well. Draven, there's no video been made as far as I know for the song.

Whilst the addition of "new" live tracks is a step forward and a major change from including yet another live version of Bat Out Of Hell (which don't get me wrong, of course is a great song, (understatement )).

I do think that the inclusion of live tracks on a cd single is something of a cop out these days. There used to be a timew when the "B Side" of a single was something rare and properly previously unreleased. Usually a song that didn't make it onto an album.

Ok so these B Sides were perhaps slightly sub-standard (hence the fact they didn't make it onto the final album track selection). But they gave the single buying fan something new, something different.

It's a sad indictment of the state of the music busisness as a whole that CD singles these days rarely contain something that is wholly new and original as the additional track(s).

Having said all that it's not going to stop me buying Man Of Steel on Monday

I know what you mean andy and i totally agree. The only b-sides i've been truly happy with lately is the ones on the last darkness release "i believe in a thing called love" they put two totally new tracks as b-sides, and then another different new track on the dvd release.

Does anyone know why a video wasnt done for man of steel? Surely thats the right direction to go if commercial success is wanted!

I say we get it to number one as a get well present for meat

Personally I don't. Doesn't look like Whelan at all to me. This is more comic-style, where Whelan is, ehm, not.
I do like it, anyways.

Since when has Mercury done anything right to help the commerical success of this current project. Hell, they cannot even seem to get out any official statements on Meat's current health situation.

ROCK ON BAD DIRECTION!!!

Prehaps the reason why a video wasnt made, was because meat has been doing he's world tour???? I suppose on that point they could have just filmed him performing it and released that as a vid!!!!!

Kitsty, thats a fair point, but its a bollocks reason for them not to have a video. at the very least, like you say, it should have been a quick 4 minute live verson job...

the record company are idiots... if they could make a video then they should have gone with 'did i say that' which has an amazing video...

they are a bunch of ~~~~ ups.... i heard some fat crippled arsed idiot is at fault for Man of Steel being chosen... hmmmmm

There is a A5 advert in the Sunday Mail advertising MOS ... so at least with this song Meat is getting some promo.

"Meat Loaf, Man of Steel. The brand new single out on 24th November. Available on CD featuring exclusive live B-sides plus pull out poster!"

So hope the single does well ...

Ok i agree with all of you, but if you lot are all worried about this single your a bit perthtic because our meatloaf is ill here. Yeah ok getting to NO. 1 will help him with a faster recovery but he's a human being and he cant do about 5 things at once. I dont want to make enemies on this website cause I love meat just as much as everyone But as he's touring alot of people will of heard of his new single (out tomorrow) and I will be out buying a copy myself as i've got a day off school tomorrow because of inset.

Ok all very fair points there kirtsy, and believe me everybody on this board are more worried about meat loafs health. Afterall his health, safety and well being always comes first to us.

But we are also worried about the single, a star like meat loaf deserves to do alot better in the charts than he has done lately, i mean number 38 for "couldnt have said it better" thats just wrong in my opinion.

Its all fair and well letting the people who attend meat loaf shows, know that the single is out. But we need to look further than that, obviously most of the people who attend his shows are fans, and we need to reach people who are not massive meat fans, or who havent heard of him alot. And how should we do that? By radio air play, and promo videos on music tv.

All im trying to say is that the record label shouldnt be relying on the loyal following of meat, and they should try and promote it, so it reaches people who wouldnt normally just go out and buy a meat record.

I hope the live tracks aren't the same ones that are on the Australian 2CD release. If anyone who has the Australian bonus disc gets the MOS single, could they please tell us whether the tracks could be the same or not?

Default Man Of Steel - Out today in the UK!

Hi,

Just got my copy of Meat's new single, Man of Steel, which came out today here in the UK :)

The track listings are as follows:
1. Man Of Steel (radio edit) 3.58
2. Tear Me Down (live) 4.02
3. Love you out Loud (live) 4.42

Also comes with a free poster of lots of little pics of Meat's fans faces- rather cool! The live versions on the CD in my opinion are fantastic! Lets hope he gets a good chart postion with this one!

I'm not sure if icwuke had some prior knowledge or was just presuming but having listened to them side by side this morning I agree that they are the same tracks.

The Man Of Steel radio edit has not been chopped about very much at all. The spoken intro is not there of course and a thirteen second part of the duet has been cut. The bit that goes:

Meat: I used to be a man of steel
Now every bit of faith is gone
Girl: You used to be so strong
Now you can't even break my heart

Otherwise it is as on the album

We purchased our copies from Woolworths (Bexleyheath) and took the last three off the shelves. It was placed at #17 in the Woolworths charts.

At WH Smiths there was only one copy left and it was placed at #15 in their singles charts.

We couldn't find any copies at MVC.

In HMV there were loads of copies but it wasn't listed on their charts.

HMV had a list of all the singles released these weeks up to Christmas and this week far more than normal are being posted (as it's coming up to Christmas). There are singles by Madonna, Peter Gabrial, Gareth Gates, Will Young and the Shane Ritchie Children In Need single that are all likely to do well.

I can't say I was too impressed with the poster as Meat Loaf's face isn't too distinct....his face also only covers the top two thirds of the page.

Cool, I can't wait to get my copy to see if my son and I are on there. My son's pic should be fairly distinctive, the whole background of the pic is an American flag. We'll see... hey, once we have it we'll all have to post where "our" pictures are.

I see it all right, very amusing indeed!

The edit version actually sounds great and my local MVC had just one copy left on the shelf when I popped in there. They said they'd sold out apart from that one which can only be a good thing as they assured me they'd have loads in early last week.

My own copy arrived safe and sound and I'm chuffed to bits.
