Off Topic: There is no "E" in the grading system because it would be too easy for a student to change an "F" to an "E"

I can't bring myself to listen to any of it with the exception of Objects and Rock and Roll Dreams 90% may be a bit of an exaggeration, granted, but there are a fair number of points on it that are utterly dismal. Anything For Love and It's All Coming Back to Me Now make me cringe. The only thing that saves Rock and Roll Dreams is the arrangement. Bad for Good is pretty miserable in sections. Sure, there were parts that were fine, but there were also parts that weren't so much.

Sorry if I offended you. It's painful seeing Meat struggle through this performance, the second half of it in particular It's clear that he gave the show everything that he had, but it didn't save particular points of it, sadly.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: I would be surprised if video footage of this show doesn't still exist somewhere.

Anything for love was better than the MSO version in my opinion. His voice was stronger.

I'm sure it does, but it wouldn't translate well to a live release, one maybe two static cameras wouldn't capture the event in enough detail.

Ok, I didn't watch this yesterday, it just got too late, but, now that training has been rained off, I am off for a watch!

Sorry I misunderstood. I thought it was your own scoring system and not the actual US one. Crumbs, there are a lot grades from 60% to 100%. In fact, 12 to cover just 40 marks. One every 3.33% !!!!!
I think I am a bit off topic here so back to 3 Bats live.
I LOVE IT.
It's very good in my humble opinion. I just pop the DVD in, watch it and enjoy it.
Simple as that.
Did they really film RAH ?? That was a great evening. Nice to have a DVD of a concert you went to. Though my very first Meat gig was the Live at Wembley show from 1987!!

I seem to have uncanny knack of turning up at gigs which are being filmed for official release. I was also present at:

Dio Holy Diver Live at the Astoria ( shame that venue is no longer there)
Judas Priest Live in London ( at Brixton with Ripper Owens)
Europe ( recent one at Shepherd' Bush)
And a Shakin Stevens show at Shepherd's Bush where one of the songs was filmed for a single release!!
I have feeling there is another one somewhere in the dark recesses of my mind but it ain't coming to the fore.

The company that supplied the fancy technology for use with the orchestra were allowed to film at least part of the show. I remember seeing some of the footage and I'm pretty sure they didn't use a static camera. I dare say whatever exists wouldn't compare to a professional 16 camera set up, but then again the Toad's Place bootleg is only one camera and it's still worth watching.

BFG got really fed up though during RAH and that along with TMIL amd Objects would be the three songs worth the exclusivity.

I dare say the atmosphere is what made the night. Herring just the audio and soundboard turns out to be your standard Meat show. I actually prefer 3 Bats Live to the good bootleg i have of RAH sans Paradise, TMIL, and Objects which were all more superior that night. BFG would be added too if that horrible sound mistake didnt happen during RAH

3 Bats is just awful - painful to watch / listen to, nowhere near as good as MSO. Hopefully Sydney will be better, but on the evidence of the bootlegs, I doubt it...

I used to agree with this, but I watched it for the first time in ages the other night and found myself really enjoying it. Admittedly I only got as far as Blind As A Bat before I had to switch it off and go to bed (it was about 4am by that time)
I still need to get the blu-ray version.

Hope the new one is on Blu-ray too. And would LOVE to see MSO on Blu-ray, but doubt it was filmed in HD. It is by far the best Meat DVD out there (officially, at least )

A student would really deserve an F if they changed it to an E. A. It's still a crap grade B. An F so easily becomes a B. C. I suppose you could also change an E into a B.

On topic: I still like parts of 3 Bats live, he sings with passion, his vocals may not be his bet but he was I'll. I love RRD, BAAB, and the rest of the Bat I & II songs. Really missed Patti in it, I find Aspen to Disney with her vocals.

I watched this last night, while I struggle with it because I missed Patti & I don't think I quite like the camera work, I like the MSO camera work better, I don't know whay, I just do. Anyway, while there are those points, I still find myself sitting there with a big dumb grin on my face. I do enjoy it. But I'd still rather MSO or Storytellers.... but something tells me Sydney is gonna be my favourite!!!!

Do the same as samurai7 and listen to it again. You may just be surprised.
If you have, of course, done that recently then you aren't for turning!!!

Can I just add that I played it on the surround sound system in glorious DTS 5.1, whereas before it'd been bog standard stereo like the CD. A few far-too-obvious touch-ups on Paradise and one or two others became even more noticeable, but on the whole a much better experience

I've watched 3 Bats Live twice since I first bought it. MSO- I've watched countless times. There is just no comparison. The duets are crappy without Patti. Meat was sick on 3BL so the show shouldn't have been filmed, let alone released on dvd. I don't think ISOP does Meat justice either. It's not a good representation of the legend that he is.

He was indeed. He was complaining of a sinus infection during the In Search of Paradise DVD fairly shortly before the 3 Bats Live DVD shoot was to commence.

Sinus infections are not fun at all.

I wish Meat would make a recording of that show available. Just for the halibut.
