Hi

Happy New Year to everyone - hope you all had a good one!!!

Can anyone help?

I have been nominated to set up a web site for work (I work for a charity).

Some one has bought us our domain name as a donation but it doesn't come with any web space it is just the name. I now need to find how to buy web space. Bearing in mind that the costs need to be kept as low as possible due to lack of funding and something user friendly as I am a novice. Could someone point me in the right direction. We use ntl broadband at work - I've looked on ntl business site but can't find anything - it is different to the site for ntl homeusers. I would probably have to do most of the work at home - can you register using the computer at work and then do work on the site from home once it is up and running??

Any help will be appreciated.

Love
Angel xxx

Help!! Please Anyone?!!!

My screen has suddenly started to jump wildly whenever my mouse is placed anywhere on my screen. So much so that its unbearable to even look because its jumping that much. However if I place my mouse on the top of the screen where the toolbar is it stops jumping. Can anyone elighten me as to what could be wrong and how to fix this?
I'm a complete computer novice!

Thanks
Leahx

its either a problem with your graphics card or you monitor.

i would hazard a guess that its something to do with the monitor rather than the graphics card.

could you place the toolbar somewhere else on the screen. then see where you have to put your cursor to make it stop jumping.

If not its a trip to the doc's.....

if the screen is jumping then its nothing to do with your mouse. is it a flat screen or the other sort?

The screen I have is a flat screen. So do you think the problem lies with the monitor?.....
Thanks for your advice by the way. Its very much appreciated!

if it had been a CRT monitor i would have been sure that it was a problem with the monitor.

i have to admit i'm stumped.

Thanks for the advice anyway Keab.
I've been looking on the web to see if I can find out anything but there's a whole range of possible causes from interference through to it being the actual monitor and a zillion other things.....
Over the weekend i'm gonna check all the cables and give it a good wipe and see if that does anything

you need to save the image in jpeg file format. this should be possible using the options within the software that came with your scanner. if not then you should be able to use a graphics package to open the image and then save it as a jpeg file. a good free graphics package is GIMP.

Hi

I did an earlier post asking for help with web space but no one has responded

Can I ask another daft question. When using excel does anyone know how to put page numbers in the middle of the spread sheet, in the background. It doesn't print out but is really useful when you have loads of pages and only want to print one out.

Thanks
Angel

Sorry but you have me stumped i'm afraid.

I don't have excel installed on this machine so can't even play around to try and guess.

Anyone else know?

Office is not legally available as a download is it?

If you would like to download an office suite without wanting to pay for one, try Open Office

You probably deleted some of the office installation files by accident. If you have the original office media, try to uninstall and then install again. Otherwise you might have to do a comlete system restore using your recovery discs.

so, is there no way i can simply download the file that is needed? I've restored my computer before and it took me hours and hours to get it back to the way i had it. I'm trying to do anything that prevents me from resoring it.

I'm having a problem with not being able to see pics in threads. This is a new problem and exists mostly in the Journals, but it also showed up in the guess the video clip section. I used to not have this problem and clicking show picture doesn't fix the problem. Any suggestions? Anyone else having this problem.

I really want to see the new and improved Chris

It sounds to me like it is to do with the new file space.

Firstly: Can you see this picture (old me!!)

Secondly: Can you see this picture (new me):
