Patricia,

Do you have more than one forum window open at once?

If so, the forums will block you from posting without a long enough gap between posts!!

Supposed to stop spammers from automatically posting (i think!)

It could be.
I was trying R.'s method and opened a second window!

The same here today. At least I can connect.
Hope eventually this technical problem will die of natural death...

The server is running fine at the moment. Slow, but ok. This time the problem is on your end.
You need to find a way to clean your temporary internet files or cache, check your browser's options.

I'd never noticed it before, but it seems that I only have connection problems when I'm loged in...
When I'm loged out everything's okay. But when I'm loged in, I still have this error message (and have to click back and then to click again...):

'phpBB : Critical Error
Error updating sessions table'

I cleaned my cache like you told me.

Btw, I have a link, that Andy nicely provided me, for my avatar but the server doesn't accept it from me, though it works with Andy...

Anyone any ideas as to where this option is?

OK,

This involves editing the registry - YOU MUST BACKUP THE REGISTRY BEFORE ATTEMPTING THESE!!

1. Click Start, click Run, and type Regedit.
2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Winlogo n.
3. Right-click within the right pane, point to New, and then click String Value.
4. Name the value KeepRasConnections.
5. Double-click KeepRasConnections, and set the value data to 1.

Hello Uncle Chris!

Having problems getting multiple monitors to work as I want them to...

Have a laptop and additional monitor. I want the monitor to play a Powerpoint presentation continuously and the laptop to run the presentation unless I need it to run something else. Basically, we're doing an exhibition on Tuesday and the laptop may be needed to show other things, but don't want passers by to see what I'm doing on the big monitor. I can get it to work the other way round, but not the way I want!!!!

I'm not Chris but I would say yes and no.

It does the same job and you can log on with your .net passport etc. But I don't think it has had any updates in a while therefore MSN messenger looks more appealing and now has the moving emoticons.

I'm sure Chris will tell us more if there is more to it than that.

Stephen.

That is basically it!!

Windows Messenger is the version that is shipped as part of windows. MSN Messenger is the version that is a standalone one.

I personally prefer MSN messenger as it lets you do more things.

Dear Uncle Chris,

I am having issues. I am trying to change my avatar and it won't let me. It keeps telling me that the url is invalid, yet I can post it as a picture.

What am I doing wrong?

Yes Heat, it is. I check the size of it and it is 60x90 pixels and 1951 bytes which means nothing to me but it should be small enough. I can use it on another message board.

Avatars on Yahoo don't work.
Yahoo does not allow hotlinking.

Thank you R. I will try it somewhere else.

Maria

I am now getting frustrated. I have tried saving it in other places but it comes out too big and it won't fit. I am not impressed

Hey Chris.

Was just wondering if you'd found anymore information on how to back up the registry in Windows XP

Stephen.
