Best bet for a fire wall is ZoneAlarm I would say. It's either free for the standard version or pay for a pro version which includes other useful features.

Just my opinion though!

Just upgraded to a new computer running XP, am getting straneg behaviour now on this website, not all the icons appear when I load a page, sometimes it's the reply bbuttons, sometimes the avatars, other times it's the new post icons in a forum. Any ideas what's wrong?

Andy I quite often get red X instead of the pic. It's most annoying but don't know how to stop it.

Hi Chris & Rob .....

tried what u suggested Chris, re finding mysearch stuff in progs. There was nothing there but ........ I did find something that said Windows Search or something like that, I clicked it and a number came up to type in to prove I wasn't a bot or something like that, so ...... being the genius I am lol I typed in the number, and deleted that programme .... no more mysearch.com hijacking my home start up page

Thanks for the help guys

URGENT! If anyone sends me an e mail with an attachment please enter "Paradise" into the subject title somewhere. Otherwise I'll be forced to delete just to make sure they aren't a virus.

I'm receiving e mails with attachments with webmaster.com written as the sender, and unless I recognise the particular topic, and know for sure its safe, I delete it straight away.

Dottie, this could be due to the virus emails going around, although not too sure. I've had several, not from anyone on here i hasten to add. I passed them onto a friend, without opening them, who in turn sent a Malware Notice to the email address from which it came. If you would like me to do the same for you, contact me via pm on here, or via my hotmail addie and my friend will send a Malware Notice to whatever site they are coming from. Unfortunately, you will need to fwd the email to me, but you can do this just by hitting fwd and sending to my addie. There is no need to open the email.

Dearest Chris and Rob!

I have a very perplexing problem - somehow the title to my agony page seems to have changed it's self to :-

Original Sin't Agony Page.

instead of:-

Original Sin's Agony Page.

now I have confirmed with several sorces that it has always been the latter - so I am extremely perplexed

Also I really thought that the person who started a trh==thread could change the title - but i can't seem to do this. Any ideas?

Not exactly, you may enter a new title.
If you don't, the target threads title appears on the forum index.

Nope.
Again, if a mod merges some thread into an exisiting thread he may enter a new title, he doesn't have to.
On the other hand, if a mod merges two threads into a new thread he must enter a new title.
Bring Scully along, I'll explain it again. Slowly. Very slowly.

Can anyone help me. I have a picture I want to use as my Avatar but it is too big. How do I go about resizing it and has anyone got any website they could then put it on.

I would really appreciate it.

This problem is driving me nuts!!

I can suddenly (on about Thursday) no longer send any e-mail via my KasimInfo.com Outlook Express programme. My computer appears to send it but people don't always receive it (I check it with my AOL account and it never arrives there). I can receive e-mails fine though.

My ISP is AOL (which I detest but I'm signed up with for a few more months) but whenever I log onto Virgin.net, I can send my KasimInfo.com e-mail with no problem.

I've had this setup for about 2 years and not had any problems. I can't keep logging onto Virgin as I have to pay for each call and I've tried AOL support 5 times today but each time they are more interested in selling me broadband....so I won't be able to send e-mails far faster than I can't send them now!

This is probably due to AOL enforcing their anti-spam policy.
Does it work if you use the AOL software?

I can send AOL e-mails through AOL fine but if it was anti-spam software, why does it let me receive e-mails with no problem and yet not send them?

The SMTP (~outgoing) server in your Outlook account, is that an AOL mailserver or some server of your kasiminfo.com host?

It's set as the KI.com one but I tried it using an AOL server too with no luck.

Looks like they are blocking port 25 (SMTP) in order to prevent spam relaying (your emailer connects to the smtp server through tcp/ip using port 25).
You should ask AOL tech support if that's the case.

That's what my hostcompany said but AOL say they aren't!

The strange thing is that on some settings I can send e-mail to some IPs but never to my AOL account!

Did you check if your hostcompany's mailserver is blacklisted as a spam relay? Google.

Send me an email as a test.
