I hope I'm not too late, Black Dog. You can send me your pic if you want and I will resize it, put it on my webspace and send you the address so you can link to it. Just send me a PM

Dear Someone who knows more about computers than me

my AOL internet keeps losing connection! Today I was on it for fifteen minuites and it lost the connection, then ten. Either that or the internet freezes about three times a day and every now and then the computer refuses to shut down. Whats wrong?

Default question about PMs

I have tried to send a PM, but it shows up in my out box instead of in my sent box. Does this mean that I haven't actually sent it to the other person? If so, what do I need to do in order to send it? I hit submit already. Thanks for any help anyone can give me.

You have sent it.

It will sit in your outbox until the person at the other end reads it, at which point it will transfer to your sent box. Just don't delete it from your out box or the recipitent will log on to find no message!!!

It is a cookie problem!!!

Failing that, what internet browser do you use?

Try to connect to the web using the AOL software, then minimize it and use a different browser. IE or Mozilla.

A cookie is a little file full of chocolate chips for if anyone ever emails you a glass of milk!!!!! (can you tell I studied computing??)

A cookie is a file that contains your username and password for the site so that when you visit the site, it can automatically log on!

To clear them in the AOL browser, follow these instructions:

1. Open the AOL account.
2. Click on the "Settings" button on the toolbar. ("My AOL" for older
versions).
3. Select "Preferences".
4. Select the "Internet Properties (WWW)" link on the left-hand side.
(Older versions will show a "WWW" box).
5. In the middle of the Internet Options box is a section called
"Temporary Internet Files".
6. Click "Delete Files". Place a check mark in the "Delete All Offline
Content Box".
7. Click "OK".

Then return to the site, log in and select the remember me option. Everything should work perfectly and you can send your fave Uncle Chris a present!!

Top right hand corner of the forum screen, you have the options for FAQ, profile etc etc.

Click on login and you get a screen asking for User Name and Password, underneath there is a little checkbox saying Log Me on automatically - that is the little box i meant!!

Chris why am I receving e mails that have my 'dotsameatloaffan@yahoo.co.uk' as the subject, I'm deleting straight away anyway, as I do not recognise the sender?

I seem to be clear for quite a while, then they start again, with the 'Viagra ones' etc., I mean do I need it not unless I've changed sex anyway

Personally Dottie, I would say you have Muliple Personalities and amnesia which means you are sending them to yourself and then forgetting which makes it a problem for Auntie Sin!!!!

Failing that, it is a common trick by spammers to mask their email address behind the address they are sending them to!! They do it so you cannot block them with filters.

All I can suggest is deleting them each time!!

One point tho, do NOT ever ever ever click ont he link at the bottom of the email that says "Click here to stop getting emails" or something similar. All that does it let them know you have a valid email address and cause more problems!!

hi Chris,

How do you manage to replace the url link by a shorter word or a picture without modifying the link itself?
