I can't for the life of me see any attribution that makes me trust what Meat's quoted as saying actually .. no reference to an interview or a name of an interviewer.

I think ARU has a point when he says
Quote:
if potential promoters are reading this, they will not want to see a potential client of theirs criticising an establishment that has paid them to play a show.
although we should remember that Meat has said he was not paid a fee for the public performance that resulted in the negative campaign.

But I do agree this is an argument Meat can't win. He has every right to say what he thinks of those who manipulated and joined in the campaign of cyber-bullying, but is probably best to leave it in his dust now as he moves on. He is bigger than them, better than them, and he has new fields to play, new goals to score, and he will.

The less said now the better imo .. they'll get bored when they don't get a pay-off and look for another target for their poison pens, and commenting is unlikely to help because for every comment from one of us that the site decide they'll let through, there will be a dozen who will seize on it to add more flames .. and all of those will get published.

Meat is a man with more heart, more drive, more soul than they could even vision in their wildest imaginings. He will scale more peaks than they can even dimly see from the ground. And as he does, what was so deeply hurtful and unwarranted will recede as the next horizon beckons and he devotes his impressive energy towards reaching that, visioning what lies beyond it and re-setting his sights again.

Wow, that is so typical. They posted mine, but I have noticed the majority are negative. That's unbiased journalism for you.

They posted mine, but I mean some are vile and have nothing to do with his performance!

That's right. I said:

Meat Loaf is right. People are dumb because they don't keep up to date. If they had heard his last two albums they would have known how he sounds now and what to expect. The trouble is people don't keep up to date, and people who haven't seen him in concert before probably expect him to sound like he does on Bat Out Of Hell 1 & 2. Well guess what, he doesn't. He's been singing 40+ years, those albums were sped up, he's had 4 surgeries on his voice over the years, and the songs he sings are the hardest out there and wears down the voice like no other artists songs. So anyone who thinks he should sound the same as 1977 or 1993 is lazy and hasn't done their homework as he said.

Default Mistake by Meat

I think that its a mistake for Meat to bite back like this.

He is a grown man and knows his limitations as a performer. The AFL was a train-wreck waiting to happen and I WISH I WISH I WISH he had performed to a full backing track INCLUDING vocals. He knew it was going to be an almost impossible task so why on earth did he agree to do it that way? I can't imagine that he is a pushover...!

As an audio professional I'm also becoming tired of complaints directed towards mixes and monitor engineers. I've heard it quite a few times over the past few years and struggle to believe that people working towards the top of their game in TV and live audio make such errors.

Struggling.

It sounds that the event was really crappy organized by the AFL and I believe Meat in this.

BUT: I think it is not a good idea to threaten people expressing their opinion on internet, no matter how stupid things they say. He has to understand that you should not feed the trolls in the internet.
I think it is even a bad idea to do that on the "own" unofficial fan board....(for that he lost some of my sympathy because of things in the past)

You should never get certain internet communities against you.

I don't agree, yes if you ignore things and just don't comment sometimes the story goes away and people forget. But Meat has videos posted of his music on youtube and places all of the time, and on all of them at the moment there are insults, so depsite him being quiet since the AFL thing people have continued to troll, so the story isn't going away.

I wouldn't expect him to sit back and take it, and I certainly wouldn't in his place. Besides which Meat is a personality where if you decide to take him on, you better damn well expect him to kick your ass! He's never been one to sit back and take any crap, i'm exactly the same so I can understand how he feels.

Thanks Mel .. and as soon as BT gives me some decent level of decent level of connection I'll view it. I was, as always, suspicious of quotes unattributed to an interview or interviewer by name, and still don't actually know how selective they have been, although suspect they will have been.

Try to see it from a non-fan's and a business perspective.
I see it from a human behavior perspective. Humans can only be pushed so far. This is not going to hurt his business in other countries. If Axl Rose can still book venues with his reputation, then this will not hurt Meat. And not saying anything wasn't exactly keeping the negative posts at bay. So I say fight back!

Like i said it's an argument he can't win.Great if he feels they are wrong, but c'mon Meat keeps telling us he's 45 years in the business and if after 45 years he doesn't believe that some people will dislike what he does, no matter what he does, then you might as well pour a ton of salt into the wound as it's going to sting him for a long time to come.
Again, if Axl Rose can book venues, then this won't hurt Meat.

@ Rage Against: I disagree and stick to what I said before. Judging by the reactions I've seen on on the web, he apparently did not benefit from making those statements at all.

Hopefully those reactions will be put to rest and people can move on once Meat posts his own video

He did benefit.

Sure, people came on his facebook and started bashing him.

But hundreds of true fans fought back, and people who enjoyed the shows posted positive comments, and drowned out the haters.

For Meat, honesty, being upfront about how humble he is and how he knows he was treated is important. It means that anyone who books him in the future will treat him with respect because he demands that respect. He deserves fair treatment.

He did not. If he did you wouldn't have to "drown out the haters" on "his facebook" now.

I'd rather he has haters on his facebook and speak his mind, let out his anger at how hes being treated, than sit silently and continue to take it up the you know which.

You want him to be angry and have haters on his facebook? Well... If you consider "haters" vs. "true fans" battles desirable, so be it. I'm not keen on seeing the AFL thing becoming a never-ending story and cast a cloud over everything Meat Loaf is doing at the moment.

I dont want them there at all, but i do want Meat to stand up for himself.

Yah, i hope it doesn't either. Hopefully his next video helps defuse things
