All the news coverage of the plane ditching into the Hudson River yesterday has sparked one of those discussions in the office ...

If they have life jackets on planes in case of emergencies, why don't they have parachutes on cruise liners?

One report said it was a flock of geese. I doubt there's anything that you do to a jet engine to protect it from that, that won't also stop the airplane from getting off the ground ...

in all seriousness, it shows you how well that pilot did because landing with two engines out is unheard of...from what i was told by a few people today
