Well I've never heard Steve Steinman or Peat Loaf, though I hope to soon, but Scarpia aka Kyle Gordon cut a magnificient demo of "A Kiss Is A Terrible Thing To Waste". I personally wish that Jim Steinman would work with Scarpia more. If you haven't heard of him, Scarpia's also the guy singing on the demo to the "Dance Of The Vampires" song entitled "Seize The Night" and "Cold" from Whistle Down The Wind. I would just love to hear him sing "Bat Out Of Hell". Apparently he's cut a demo of "It's All Coming Back To Me Now" and I think the concept of hearing a male sing that song is so interesting, I want to hear it so badly but I don't believe that it's yet to surface anywhere.
Peat Loaf I hope to be hearing you soon via your web site, I'm not sure if Steve Steinman has any demos but I'll check on that as well.

I CANNOT honestly see another artist doing Meat's songs. I really don't think that justice can be done to them. He takes a song and makes it his own. That's why I love him so much

Hi Shadow

How are you and welcome to MLUKFC first time I have seen you here so I am assuming you don't know much about me or what I do. may be you should check out my web site www.peatloaf.freeserve.co.uk and get a little bit of back ground on me :)

Now as to your post. I 100% agree with you to a certain extent there is not another artist in the world that can do Meat's songs the way he does them, that is what makes Meat so special and unique, and as I said if another artist were to try and sing a Meat song in there OWN STYLE , then yes they wouldn't come close. But what I do is A tribute to Meat Loaf, were I perform as Meat singing Meats songs with all the power and emotion and giving the same 110% in my performance that Meat himself puts into his songs and shows. I have spent many years perfecting my act to get it as close to the grate man as it can possibly be got, and being a huge Meat fan before I had even had dreams about doing what I do helps.

But on the other hand what I do is NOT my natural singing voice or the way I express my self through music, although I do still sing with a lot emotion and feel the song I am singing, thats what makes the difference between a good singer and a good entertainer. Now I know that a lot of things have been said about Meats voice of late and I hope I don’t up set any one by saying what I am going to say, but I feel it’s part of what I am trying to explain.

Meats voice has changed, and I don’t think we can really deny that, but you don’t have to be the best singer in the world when you can entertain and hold an audience in the palm of your hand the way Meat does, and the big man still has that magic and like no other performer in the world. Jesus man if I can still perform the way I do when I am 54 and done close to 3000 live performances, and I MEAN perform !! not just stand up in front of a microphone and sing I will be a very happy man. But going back to what we were talking about, if I were to take the stage and sing a Meat Loaf song as Pete Rossi, I wouldn't do Meat's music justice. But when I take the stage as Peat Loaf I think I do them more than justice :)

If you do go and check my site Shadow ,you will find video clips and photos and a BBC Radio interview I did were I sing two unplugged tracks from Bat live on air, and we have just cut a new demo of Dead Ringer which will be going up soon :)

Man that was a rant sorry Guys :)

Pete

Hi Evan I am at present producing a new show for 2004 along with the Meat Loaf Story, the new show is called "Vampires Rock" in the new show we are doing Seize the day from Jim Steinmans Dance Of The Vampires. The main guy in that show was Steve Bartton who died not to long ago and he was dew to play in New York before he died. Michael Crowford then took the lead but the show did not stay open for long. I will be doing a CD of the show soon with Seize the day and I will be doing Total Eclips Of The Heart. Keep an eye on our web site for news.

Cheers Steve Steinman

I can certainly vouch for that. I have also seen Steve Steinman, ~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~ and a couple of the lesser known UK Meat Loaf tribute acts. These guys all put on a good show, but they just don't have the magic that Pete has when he gets on that stage.

I know alot of you haven't been fortunate enough to see Peat Loaf in concert yet, but when you do I'm totally confident you'll agree with me.

I personally feel that Freddy Mercury could have done some of Meat's songs. He had a great voice. In heart, he HAS a great voice.

Default Amy Lee

Like I said in another post, I would love to see a duet between Meat and Amy Lee from Evanescence. She is quite possibly the sexiest and most talented female rock singer I have seen and heard. Her songs are a bit heavier, but she does a few slow ones too. If you haven't heard "My Immortal", go to www.evanescence.com right now and download it. It is beautiful. She has the same kind of voice to Meat in my view, and she started out by singing Meat songs. And I can just imagine them on stage together - the Big Man and the Princess. Wonderful

Also, even though he and his music was completely different to Meat, I think Ian Dury had an almost exact same outlook on life and work. He was bold and brash but also loved life and did anything to please the fans. He was a little man in figure, but a big man in heart. And he loved performing, just like Meat - he always said he was an actor and not a singer. Two very unique singers indeed :) .

Ive seen Steve, Pete & Dean and for me Steve far out does them all. His act is much more of a show than the others which are more pub / cover bands.

Steve Steinman puts on a good show but it depends on how you mean do the songs justice? Do you mean if the artist sounds the same as Meat or do you mean another artist who doesn't have the same vocal attributes but gives the overwhelming emotion?

If you mean by sound-a-like then Steve Steinman would probably come top for me.
But if you mean artists not trying to emulate Meat's voice then I would say Jon Bon Jovi, maybe even Marti Pellow as i think his voicce might suit a couple of the tracks.
But really without hearing any covers its hard to say.
And really it would be like finding gold in turd, to find any one who could be at Meats level!!
eh.... I started reading this read from last to 1st lol. So missed the beginning. JONBONJOVI? Wow 1st time i've heard that lol, but would be very interesting to hear lol. Meat doing Bon Jovi would be pretty cool as well

Sorry all, apparently I'm not allowed to have an opinion and have to think Dean is the best
