You're going to have to deal with the fact that people will not be bullied - directly or indirectly, or even passive aggressively - into not stating their honest opinion. And again, as long as there's no ill will involved and it isn't malicious, it's a little immature to attack people just because you don't like or agree with their opinion.
I'm not and I don't think anyone else is bullying people into doing anything. Just trying to explain what the consequences can be. Post all kinds of criticism all you like, I personally won't lose much sleep over it, why anyone would want to do that I don't get. And don't be surprised if you repeatedly post negativism or exaggerate someone eventually will call you a pain in the ass (exactly what happened in the Youtube comments), or if the guy who owns and pays for this place to eventually shut you up, delete posts or lock a thread. Surely that is common sense.

Funny how to post anything that puts a different opinion to, or comments on, the repeated criticism is described as bullying

Here we go again.

Honestly wish Meat would let his performances speak for himself and let the trolls be toxic air to themselves.

You know how you said 'hey, I don't do that at all? Well, you just went ahead and did it

Pointing out the plain obvious is hardly bullying is it?
If I went to a party and slagged everyone off, their outfits, the music, the drink, the food, the people then obviously someone would chuck me the hell out of there regardless of how valid my opinions might be. Sure I can then call them bullies for throwing me out or all disagreeing with me but I doubt it will make much difference to the party I would no longer be part off.

Again, that sound? That's the point flying right over your head. I'm not just going to keep on repeating the same thing over and over again - see my earlier post on opinions, respect, etc. or alternatively PM me, if you want to talk it out. I'm more than happy to talk to you, Andrew.

One thing I have to agree with, when it comes to everyone's comments, good or bad, is that at the end of the day, your opinion does not define you as a person, nor does it define whether you are a fan of Meat Loaf. What has been said on here has been said with respect, and with honesty, and I think as fans of an evolving artist, it is what it is. Nobody should be looked down upon for being negative or positive. We can ALL be negative and positive at times, regardless of whether we think our **** smells like roses, if we are negative to those we think are being negative, then we in turn are being negative, etc!

Yes, the words we say do matter, and those who read them choose to react however they choose. But I think we can all graduate to a level where feeling disheartened by a performance by Meat doesn't make us a bad fan, or a bad person. Alternately, being excited by a performance we liked doesn't make us a brown noser. Each of us could end up in each other's shoes depending on how Meat sounds depending on his next tour, the shape of his voice, the performance effects, etc.....Let us give each other the same respect we would give ourselves if we honestly began to feel differently about a show. What if you were disappointed by a show, genuinely and surprisingly so? Or what if you were blown off your feet for the first time in a decade of his shows? etc...

By the way, Happy Halloween tomorrow if I'm not on by then :)

There were no negative comments on that youtube video, nobody was insulting meat loaf in anyway, just simply discussing his use of a ghost track. He jumped in the conversation and started hurling horrific abuse around and denying that there was a ghost track at all. Its one thing for an artist to get tired of negative reviews, but to erupt with anger and deny something that is plainly there for all to hear is something totally different.

This is one area where I do have to be empathetic for Meat. He obviously has had enough people judging him and he snapped at the wrong person - Someone who said the wrong words on the wrong video and was just being observant. I could have easily been in the YouTube user's shoes. So, to that YouTube user, I would tell them to please not take it personally. As Caryl posted, poke a bear too many times....etc. Was it right for Meat to attack that person? In my opinion this is not black and white, so I refuse to answer that.

But did that person deserve it? No.

But we all make mistakes, and Meat had obviously been reading enough other criticism to react to a random YouTube comment so strongly. The lyrics to "All Of Me" come to mind. We all know Meat is very open with his emotions, and that is why we love him as well.

So If it were up to me, I would remember that Meat puts himself out there to thousands of people, bravely exposing himself to the world, flaws and all. And, like how I am sure I might react because he is a self-critical person already, he lashed out at the world for adding to that criticism - it becomes out of balance. He becomes upset, for not getting enough love, or positive encouragement. He needs that to continue to perform, and to feel good. Having said that, he also seems to, at times, thrive on criticism because it helps to motivate him to improve.

Fundamentally, I think this is the battle we are having on this thread now. To embrace the vibes of Love versus Criticism (or Fear). Hey, It's ok to emanate both. At the end of the day, we each choose how to feel and how to react, and nobody, not one person, is in the wrong to feel how they feel.

I hope we are all able to continue express ourselves despite our different feelings.

I appreciate what you're saying, but it seems to kind of a contradiction.

This video is better. I haven't bothered reading most of this thread but if Meat needs support now (not that I believe he does) but if he does, then he's just joining Cher, Dolly Parton, Celine, and all the others of his generation.

From that point of view: it's funny how to post anything that puts a different opinion to, or comments on, repeated praise over less than sensational performances is met with offensive behaviour and mass passive aggression.

There's a potential (POSITIVE!) solution to this, and once I get back (Halloween party) I'll have a discussion with R and see what can be done

IN the meantime - HAPPY HALLOWE'EN!

And on the plus side it was nice to see Meat back in form. I'm seeing him next week and looking forward to it.
As far as people making comments well all I can say is it is amazing how some can sit back and type rude and disrespectful comments aimed at any artist.
Never done it myself and never will. No matter who they are I have to respect the fact that they are willing to perform...

Saying what you want is FINE but FFS lambasting the man over and over again over POINTLESS shit is effing rude.

This is what I talk about.

TMZ had a run with the comments

http://www.tmz.com/2015/10/31/meat-l...-fans-youtube/

It's all over Twitter. Even a Dutch newssite made an article about it:

http://www.nu.nl/muziek/4155963/meat...aliteiten.html

Although it resolved in a great manner, this doesn't help Meat, I think.

The only person I saw doing that on those YT comments was ML himself.

ML needs to watch a recent episode of 'South Park' called 'Safe Space.' Pretty much sums it up.

Actually, I think they were kind of presenting that in a positive light, if that's possible.

I like TMZ- I think they're funny.

Traveling, so this is a quick post, but I read the article and it's actually really quite a positive spin on it, which was surprising considering the nature of the press. I actually don't think this is going to hurt at all, quite the reverse
