if there would be an sub-forum for Germans, than you can make one for the Dutchies etc. etc. I think the German fans also learned English at school, and i think if you don't understand what's been written.... ask

well, I didn't really vivist the site as like deb - I can't speak German nor read it but I did go for the wonderfull pictures from the tours.

Also, Eva put me in the straight plus others, like deb when I first setup Meat Loaf Unofficial as I didn't quite get the hang of copyright (hey, I was only 13)and they helped me out so I will miss eva's advise (only the once, I think, but it was greeatly appreciated) but the site will be dearly missed.

Thatīs the only problem that came to my mind too, but if you look at the userlist, then it consists mainly of UK, Germany and Holland people, and itīs a fact that many Germans understand English, but many do not, and itīd be good t have a place to talk about Meat stuff.

Didn't know that a lot of Germans don't understand English! I must say i do have also some difficulties sometimes with understand whats been written. But there is a dutch forum: MEO, and if i understand correctly, the Germans don't have one anymore. Perhaps there is somebody who wants to set up a new German fansite?

Why don't ask her if you need/want some certain stuff of her collection? I think she is still alive...

Ok i wasnt going to post, but after speaking to a few others personally i will.
She has asked for some space to think, i think you can at least give her that before asking her for what at the end of the day is her own personal property!
That's as subtle as i can put it!

reading this last post, one thing slipt to my mind: Eva wants a break..... give her that!

writing this... i do sometimes think you know Eva: it must be clear to you now that you and youre site are missed by a lot of people, and not just German fans..... Please think again, take youre time!
(and then come back )

Agree. I don't think any of us can say that we have never had to take a step back from a 'relationship' to gain a new perspective. That relationship is not always with another person. It can be with your job, your commitments, your hobbies, your ideals, political beliefs, your heroes -or what have you. We all develop these relationships on so many levels in our lives that it pointless for any of us to try to understand what has prompted our Eva to take such a step away from something that obviously meant a lot to her over the years. That is Eva's burden, not ours.

With that being said, I think its very important for ALL of us to leave this topic alone. Were I in Eva's shoes I would NOT want to see a topic about ME on this or any site. This is a great community and I have had the good fortune to meet some wonderful people as a direct result of this site. I would like to keep that spirit intact -especially when it concerns a dear friend of mine. Support and understanding goes a long way. Try to understand her actions, give her the time she has requested and support her ultimate decision because that's just what friends do for one another.

As for the very public request for her 'records', that was extremely tacky and inconsiderate. I don't care if you get angry with me for stating something so obvious either.

jo

PS: If anyone is really adamant about having a German site, than you can find one HIER.

Thank you so much, Jo, for your post.

It's like you put my own thoughts into words ... That's a really truthful and profound post, I was thinking a lot lately how I could express my thoughts and feelings in english words, it's all very emotional for me as it concerns one of my dearest friends ... then I deleted everything again I wrote, then I wrote again and always deleted it before hitting the submit button because I always feared it wouldn't sound as I wanted it to sound ... and you just said it all really so well, thank you.

i do understand this comment. But please try to see it this way. Eva leaving was a big shock to many people, that's what i get from the comments in the thread. About the questions for Eva's personal things that where on the site, i think that wasn't meant to harm her. Perhaps indeed to early to think about that, but honestly i think nobody had bad intentions. Eva and her site are beeing missed by many german fans. Eva has asked for some 'space' to sort things out, let's give her that, and if she says after good thinking, no, i can/will not do it anymore its early enough to ask her about her personal things of the site. But it seems to me that Eva is having a holliday now.... and maybe she comes back, lets wait and see!

Yes, there's a Dutch forum, I founded MEO. (Meat Each other Online, the place in cyberspace for the Dutch Meat Loaf fans.). And why I founded that forum: mlukfc.com is an international forum, which is great! But in 2002/2003 I went searching and I found that - apart from the international communities - a lot of countries had a forum in their native language. The English had this, The USA people had their own, hell.. googling I found out that even the Russians had their own corner in cyberspace. But nothing for the Dutchies. So I founded MEO, the Dutch Meat Loaf forum on january 1rst, 2003. Started out with... about 20 dutch fans. Now I have 330 members and stilll growing.

So I can understand the Germans, feeling deprived and in lack of their own space online... But I understand that there is a new space already? Will the owner of that space check my "links" and check if I still link you correctly? www.meat-loaf.nl and then choose "links" Or please mali me at guppi@meat-loaf.nl

I must say, that I have very mixed feelings about all that has been said in this topic. Maybe because I am in Eva's shoes, as far as: she was the owner of the German forum, I am the owner of the Dutch forum.

I consider the Dutch forum as "my baby". And would you let someone else adopt your baby...

See where I'm getting at? It is just that feeling, and forumowners can indeed feel that way and I for one, understand that feeling. Not judging in any way that people take over and move on. But... remember who was at the source of it all. The one that founded it, that created that corner in cyberspace...

I hope Eva will reconsider. I never met her, but I know she's a well-respected person in the Meat community.
I don't know the details, but I read that she asked for space. So... all should respect that and give her space. And time, right?
Sorry If I am out of line and boring all with such a long post.

It's just that.. well, I own the Dutch forum and maybe I'll be in her shoes one day....
