One example of many: I post a comment about HCTB saying it's a good album and Meat Loaf is singing his ass off. And someone feels the need to post back, well should we all like it if he sings the Village People and sings his ass off. Why not leave my comment alone. It wasn't directed at this person. Why? Why? Why? Now the defense is going to be, hey I'm just joking or having a laugh. But that happens all to much. And then when someone responds back to one of those persons with humor, their post is labeled as a "stupid response". And I never questioned anyone's character or got personal. I think getting personal or questioning someone's character would be saying, "Utterly ridiculous" or "stupid". Hmmm...wonder who's said that. To reiterate for the last time. This is not about one post. This is about someone posting and then having their post attacked for no reason. Now you'll say I'm attacking and being negative now. And you and others don't like it. Lesson to be learned. |

Because there's no reason to do it. And it's not the first time. All I'm saying is, there are plenty of posts I disagree with, there are plenty of posts I don't look twice at. I just don't think every post I make needs to be questioned. Now I think you would say I didn't respond to you negatively when you made the "Village People" post. I tried to come back with humor. I didn't call your response "stupid" or "ridiculous". That Is The Difference. If I quote someone, they should feel free to fire back, but if I just make a comment, there's no need to take a shot. Why take a shot when someone just comments, i.e. my "400,000 isn't bad" post. I can keep going with examples, but it's not going to help. Contrary to popular belief, I don't think we should all sing Kumbaya around the campfire. I don't like every Meat Loaf song. I don't have rose colored glasses on. Disagreement is fine. Many people have said something I don't agree with and I don't feel the need to post back or make a comment. I just want that same treatment.

I don't wear rose colored glasses either, but I sometimes feel the culture on this site can be boiled down to:
"cool" = saying songs/albums are shite, or crap, or Jessica Simpson (?) "uncool" = saying songs/albums are beautiful, exciting, heartbreaking "Cool" people appear to view "uncool" people as somehow less discerning, just because they aren't full of criticisms. This occasionally pisses me off. I'm just making an observation, not rubbishing anyone's character. -Kathy |

Thats exactly how I feel. If i am to "Take a risk" and actually post around here....i have to understand that everything I say is going to be scrutinized and responded to in a criticizing way. If I express my true feelings, for example, to describe how amazing it was to hear Love is not real for the first time, someone will scoff at me for being someone with "Rose Colored Glasses" who is just "Brown Nosing Meat" and being over-emotional and overly-positive.
..You can look back on my comments, and you'll notice that I dont say much, and I'm fairly positive. Perhaps I should be more blunt. And say how utterly disgusted and pissed off I am that there are people on this forum who are willing to CRITICIZE and JUDGE others, and say things that are meant as put downs because you dont care? such as the way the folks doing the promo for the single campaign have been openly and mockingly criticized and told they are doing it "wrong" and that they likely wont get "enough" to make a difference in front of our faces while we work. And just not giving a flying f*ck about our feelings. How does that make you feel, those of you who did that? That you have successfully, by not caring, removed positive energy from a (and yes, I hope you cringe at the word) beautiful, awesome, full of love campaign for Meat Loaf? Mission Accomplished? I suppose I am now part of the 'Cool' club for being a bitch right back at you? |

This thread has indeed become ridiculous, yes. Now we not only have those who have been somewhat critical of the new album being targeted for their views, apparently those who are positive about the new album are being targetted as well!
There are no winners here it seems. |

However, I would like to add that the discussion about the Fan Campaign single belongs off board, as has been mentioned so referring to it here is largely irrelevant now. As for the criticism on the album, I would be interested to see these posts that accuse people of brown nosing Meat or wearing rose-tinted spectacles. I haven't seen one that's for sure.

as you say they troll every page and look for something or someone they dont like to post a response to? he he, its always the same? i read only certain things, when the title interests me. so i can understand why you lost your cool? but it aint worth it. just laugh at the shite that gets written, its so funny!! its pure boredom, and the crave for attention. they pine for a reaction, and love when Meat responds to the jibes and pokes they send and direct at him. and then turn around and say Meat took it up wrong? ha ha, its great stuff!! they attack like a pack of wolves, and love to twist everybodys words? and my favourite part is after they cause murder, they then turn it around and act like they are the victim? he he , classic stuff!! and when i started the campaign, i emailed a list of people to somebody that will say lots of crap about it? and guess what? every name i wrote down was spot on!!! shock/horror!!!! Folks, why do you spend that much time and energy on fighting with each other? The more posts I read on this thread the more I imagine Meat Loaf singing "MAAAAADNESSSSSS" being the soundtrack to this.

Back to the topic of this thread: I hope The Doode will return. I didn't agree with many of his posts, yet I think they were interesting. Some people seem to spend more time on questioning the personalities of certain forum members than on discussing the actual content of posts and Meat and his work. |

So, on the topic of this thread I too hope The Doode is back soon cos his posts often made me smile.
As does the way the every thread these days ends up being a dissection of posts made in every other thread and the whole negativity/positivity thing I just don't bother replying to the many (many) views I disagree with here, seems to work for me and doesn't provoke anyone. As long as I know I disagree that's good enough for me (and yes I realise I've sort of contradicted myself by posting that here!) Last edited by dukesofhazard; 13 Jun 2010 at 15:24. time, energy, or desire really to get involved in any of the discussions. For the record ..... you can call me one of the "uncool" ones And I still like Bat 3, but not as much as HCTB, which IMO is something truly special that Meat should be extremely proud of. Vicki |

This is all quite sad really, isn't it? My fear is that all these power stuggles (which is how it looks to me) will eventually drive Meat away from this site for good. Once a topic starts to get a bit 'personal' between two people, perhaps it would be better for them to 'thrash it out' by PM?

Or maybe they shouldn't let it get personal in the first place. Each of the "groups" that are mentioned in this thread are as guilty as each other at different times.
