This is NOT the actual physical book. Right now it is only available as a download to Kindle thru Amazon. If you don't own an actual Kindle, you can download the application for free to use on your computer. It is a great way to support Meat and The Painted Turtle. I think they should do a whole pkg deal: Printed book, audio book, and a DVD of the complete performance with extras on it. Now, that would sell!

The complete performance is online, and yeah, edited my first post accordingly.

I doubt Trump would spend money to physically print physical copies of the book. but heres hoping.

Alot of people have been requesting it be printed. Parents want to buy a physical copy to sit and read it with their children. It is supposed to be a children's book, targeted @ 4-5 year olds. I don't know if they were expecting all us adult Loafaholics to be clamoring to buy it - LOL. The Kindle version is fine for us - just doesn't have the same impact for a little kid. I do hope they come out with a printed copy. Oh, Mr, Trump.....

Trump said he'd publish it. We'll have reached a sad day imo if "publishing" now means nothing more than making it available on-line for download Books are wonderful, the feel and smell of them, the pleasure of curling up with a book .. and the reading of a book to a child tucked up in bed a time precious and to be treasured.

It's a sad state of affairs, for sure, but print is almost dead. As a working writer, I've been subject to publishers putting more offers out for kindle only releases from new authors. Kindle is claiming more territory every week in the bookstores, just like DVD did against VHS in the past. It is, sadly, only a matter of time until books are replaced altogether (IMO).

I agree with Caryl; the feel and smell of a book doesn't compare to the mundane illumination of a small, platsic computer screen.

I had the same conversation with my unofficial editor last week. Right after he took his seven year old to bed and read her "There Was an Old Lady who Swallowed a Fly" on Kindle.

I bought the Kindle version and downloaded the free app from Amazon yesterday. Like you, I'm still hoping for the printed version ... but at least this is a start and the money is still going to a very worthy cause

I have to admit that devices like Kindle are convenient if you don't have much space to store books or when you're travelling but I prefer printed books. Aside from the fact that I don't like staring at a screen or wasting electricity just to read a book, here's one reason why I'll stay away from Kindle as long as possible: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/07/18/te.../18amazon.html

Besides, some books are real pieces of art and how can you transfer a fold-out book (for example) to a Kindle? As for little kids, they like to explore books, imagine you'd have to teach them how to operate a Kindle first. The digital age surely has its advantages but it somehow kills diversity. I dread the day when I won't get books or CDs for Christmas but coupons for download stores.

I doubt you get a coupon. More likely an email with a URL

Whilst I hope it sells shed loads for a worthy cause I really can't see the point of a kids book on kindle, the majority of kids books we have have equal credits for both author and illustrator. Really hope Mr Combover does publish the book in print as toddlers follow a story with the pictures.

Agreed. And although we may get to that sad state some time, proper books are still popular. Suprmarkets have moved into selling them in recent years and show no sign of dropping them, we still have bookstores where we can browse, stations and airports seem to be extending the numbers they stock, and recent moves to close Public Libraries here have been met with storms of protest.

I still remember the excitement of my weekly visits to the Public Library as a child, looking through the books and making my selection, taking them home to read .. and a more healthy way for getting one's reading for the week than sitting in front of a computer screen imo. And there's a sense of ownership in having your own book, of real engagement and involvement, that just wouldn't be met imo by a parent sitting next to you with a laptop just before you go to sleep.

This is a book for toddlers, and as you say, better for them to explore printed pages, and trace the outlines of brightly coloured pictures with stubby fingers than get them stuck in front of a computer screen. I see no reason why Mr Trump needs to join the rush to hasten the demise of proper books ..

Kinda wondering how the kindle version works out to be more expensive though?

Wouldn't you have to purchase the book before you could put it on eBay?

no no, definitely not, ebay is the t leafs dream realm... i wouldn't even like to guess what percentage of stolen products are moved through ebay

(though i reckon books are pretty safe)

the vast majority of meat loaf stuff the collectors buy on ebay wont benefit meat or any charity he promotes... but hopefully when they were originally sold they did
