They couldn't even write that article without be snide and sly, making Meat out to be delusional and rude.

I wouldn't blame him for not going back. A$$holes.

"butt smellers"

Oh My!! Good for him. This article made me smile, first line of defense against ML cyber bullies has started. I bet if felt good for him to get that off of his chest, publicly.

To be honest i think he would've been better off not responding since it's an argument he can't win no matter what he says

Gotta respectfully disagree. I think Meat needs to stand up for himself. It makes him look like the underdog, which works to his advantage. THey'll just keep tearing a strip off him, maybe him standing up and telling them off will help. I imagine it will. And it will vindicate the efforts of all fans who are standing up for him, that we're in this fight together!

I agree...why should Meat just lay down and take that kind of verbal/cyber/media abuse? He didn't take his ball and go home. He didn't cancel the tour. He has many happy fans that went to the show. So, he does have some aces in his pocket to testify against the onslaught and prove them wrong.

i doubt it, whatever fee was paid has been paid, the organisers stood up for him and he still criticises them. If the organisers were asking for their money back, and as far as I know they haven't, then that'd be one thing. But like I had previously said It's a losing battle to take on the press and internet commentary because there's always a negative opinion to be found easily enough.

I'm with allrevvedup. He should just let it go. He only provides the critics with more ammunition and makes himself vulnerable. This defensive-offensive reaction will not get him anywhere and can backfire. It just adds fuel to the fire and might trigger more negative comments - and who wants (needs) that?

He can't change the past. Maybe it would be better to stop thinking about and feel bothered by it and invest his energy in something more positive and constructive.

Then again if he stays silent, does that portray weakness? If they keep taking shots at him, why is him fighting back an issue? If you walked into work everyday and got punched in the face, how long before you fight back?

He doesn't have to stay "silent". He obviously feels hurt and I understand his feelings but you have to consider how exactly you react to things like that, how you word your statements, if it will make sense to "fight" or if it will be a waste of time and maybe cause even more damage. Try to see it from a non-fan's and a business perspective.

yeah but Meat's place of work will not only be Australia and if potential promoters are reading this, they will not want to see a potential client of theirs criticising an establishment that has paid them to play a show.

Like i said it's an argument he can't win.Great if he feels they are wrong, but c'mon Meat keeps telling us he's 45 years in the business and if after 45 years he doesn't believe that some people will dislike what he does, no matter what he does, then you might as well pour a ton of salt into the wound as it's going to sting him for a long time to come.

Meat is about the truth. The AFL was the catalyst, which stemmed into closed minded _ butt sniffing sheep "well if he was bad at the AFL, then his live show must be bad...and that's what I'm going to say." Hence the snowball effect.

People who haven't seen the show and read reviews all over the world on the internet...erroneously determine that the reporters point of view must be accurate. Never mind the hoards of fans that post that they had the time of their life. Discount the super fans altogether because they are obviously biased. NO, instead believe the stick in the mud reporter who has had the job maybe a week, who sits on his duff, who is too busy scribbling notes and know half titles of albums, spell his name as one word, THE SAME DUDE who probably asked a half drunk fan the name of the song he wants to tear up at some point. Rant about this over!

So why? Why can't Meat defend himself? He can remain extremely positive and keep his balls too! He should not be a doormat. Maybe this is the only time he'll have his shot to say anything back to them. I'm glad he grabbed the moment. Because I read this article at those people who are butt sniffers are the silly ones. He's turned it around on THEM and gave out a warning shot. We'll see if any other media approaches Meat or if he simply declines to comment. He may have said all he needs to and I am proud that he can leave AU with that in his cap.

From a NON-FAN perspective:
Your kidding right? Controversy sells. Besides Meat's been around the block enough where promoters are already going to like him or not. He sells enough tickets. They don't care if he's grateful. He's not a DIVA for the love of Pete, the man sells himself...the name sells itself. Just get him his wheat thins and a friggin' piano and he's happy.

Way to go Meat, that's telling them. I left a comment too, don't know if they'll post it though.

He was treated terribly by the AFL. He should have been treated like a veteran performer who is respectable. Instead he was treated like a washed up failure.

And no, the AFL did not back Meat. They said that it was "not just Meat Loaf" who was the cause of the bad entertainment. They never defended him directly.

The way the entire thing was handled is poor, and I blame AFL for all the constraints they put on Meat for the performance. Those constraints definitely impacted his performance. (giving him less time to perform than initially agreed upon)

Perhaps its time to hop on this site (no login required) and post some positive uplifting statements about Meat.

Thx,
