This is a difficult one because every name there more than deserves to be in.
My choice however would have to be "The big O" Roy Orbison only ever saw him live once and was blown away. |

Out of this list, I'd short list:
Johnny Cash Ray Charles Sammy Davis Jnr George Harrison Jimi Hendrix Buddy Holly Janis Joplin John Lennon Freddy Mercury Jim Morrison Roy Orbison Elvis Presley Bon Scott All of these names were one of the biggest names in the business at their peaks, and their names still revered as the best. I don't know how many you're putting through mouse but imo it would be a crime to miss any of the names I mentioned above. Sent from my HTC Incredible S using Forum Runner |

I can't say that anyone on the list shouldn't be there. I propose that this category be a special one- sort of a "Hall of Remembrance" and everybody gets in.

On the one hand.................. An award for being dead feels a bit, odd. Death isn't a contest so should there be a contest to get in? I wouldn't like to be the one to tell someone their favourite artist doesn't get into our hall of rememberance for something as calculating as a "vote". Pardon the pun, but I think there should be "heaven for everyone". We've got the roon. It's mlukfc, not a Russian gaulag (despite what some of our members might say ). We can afford to be flexable. On the other............... If we admit everyone now, we would basically be waiting round to lose someone else before we could make another induction. Although I said above there should be heaven for everyone, i'd like to see some kind of standard maintained. If someone is an admirer of an artist/writer/producer/musician/etc, I don't see a problem inducting them to a hall of rememberance, but I get the niggly feeling that some folks would send me PM's full of people who they've named just because they are dead. No matter if they have any personal interest in that person, and no matter how obscure they may be. I kind of get the image of Wario looking through wikipedia to find out who's dead just to furnish me with a nice long list to pack the place out a bit . How to find a compromise? As a footnote, I think this is the one category where people from the Meat Loaf world deserve their own place (i'm thinging of Wells Kelly and Steve Popovich here). Maybe consider if people are as popular & revered still today after their death as they were during life. Strangely enough all the people in the nominations list fit that bill.
Without trying to sound harsh simply being dead and once popular is not enough. |

Mulling this over for a few days, for this, our first year, I wouldn't mind seeing all of the above inducted.
Along with Wells Kelly and Steve Popovich. There are still plenty of people we can induct in the future. Anyone got any objection to that? |
