Default Another back surgery?

Just read some things on Facebook that Meat had a back surgery last week. He cannot stand longer than 10 minutes and is not able to perform anymore for an unknown term?

Anyone knows more if he indeed had a surgery and know how he is doing?

I don't think he's had another back surgery since his lumbar spinal fusion. But he is still in a lot of pain, and I think he has put aside any thoughts of touring again. I just hope with sufficient rest and healing he is able to continue with his acting to give him a creative outlet. He won't be able to make the premiere of the musical for sure. He has really had more than his share of physical issues to deal with the last 3 years

I hope he recovers health.
Maybe another studio album in the future. I think no tour again. 69 years old is enough for him.

Aside from maybe the holidays album, if there's enough finished to make it worth releasing (and he was talking about who he wanted on it since 2011, so maybe they actually cut some tracks, but I dunno for sure), I'd be fine if he just kicked back and focused on his acting. Maybe opened that sports bar he was talking about a while back... seems like it's not hard to do good business in that field, and if he ever felt like singing again, he's got a low-pressure environment to jump up onstage and just belt it out.

Sorry to say I have to agree with you man...And my gut feeling was that back at the time as well. I was surprised it didn't get cancelled and holy ~~~~ did Meat ever push hard at those shows. I was both frightened and amazed. Seriously.

Just my guess is that little or nothing was actually done on the holiday album. Maybe there are some unreleased tracks someplace kind of like "Decadent Wish" was. But I really don't see much likelihood of a new studio album since the last one thus far was all Jim Steinman material.

I know he was collecting other songs when the album was "Brave and Crazy" but doubt they did much if any recording on those when Jim contributed more stuff.

I think the best chance we have to hear some "new" stuff is if Meat has them open his treasure trove of his shows and has the best stuff released. Hopefully most of it is of at least good enough quality to be released. I recall he was going to share some tracks on here a couple of times but then decided since they could be recorded and distributed he decided not to. So I don't know if it is worth it to him financially to try since anything you can play can be duplicated somehow.

Meat kicked ass and gave his all for a hell of a lot of years for us, frequently sacrificing his health in the process. Quite frankly I doubt there's a modern doctor who would have said he should have been touring in 1977 in the health he was in then either! He chose us over himself but now it's time to choose himself I suspect. I don't expect to see him live again, but God bless the man for so much wonderful work, shows, songs, albums...

Love you Meat, wherever you are.

I'm quite certain that there will be some amazing high quality audio or even video out there that none of us has ever seen! Plsu there are old TV-radio specials etc we know about, we have off-air recordings/bootlegs that haven't been remastered or officially put out

At arena concerts there are video screens - are the recordings kept or thrown out?!

Can't seem to find anything on his page where he says he had another surgery. Maybe the comment got deleted, or maybe it was just an old comment from last year?

Yes he has And like you, I hope he is able to continue with his acting too once he gets the rest and time he needs for his back to completely heal.

I hope he does too. He made it pretty clear like 5 years ago that he wanted to eventually just do acting, acting is where his passion is. I hope he gets to fulfill that. Meat's tough as the toughest people I know, and he is very resourceful. He's a Gryffindor (For all you Harry Potter fans...Mean's he's brave and resourceful and courageous). I think he'll find a way to act

It's probably recorded. I know Elton does it and every gig since at least early 90s has been kept. Every now and then his website post one up or put some onto a DVD for the fan club.
