Well artist's aren't eligible until at least 25 years after their first album .. and as BOOH was Meat's first real Rock album, he hasn't been ignored by the committee for years :) .. But now it is HIS TIME!! .. So let's go!!!

I'm there, I was glad to add my name and words to the petition. I will definately be sending along a letter as well. That would be a rockin' induction, it would certainly be worth the 20ish hour drive for me!

Yes Guppie .. there may be other awards etc that I thik Meat should have, but know he may not get .. but I can't see how they could NOT put him in the Hall of Fame. He has to be one of the greats in R&R .. he's still recording and touring, and whether they are fans or not, there are few people who don't know who he is and what he does .. and that's fame!!

Meat definately should be in the hall of fame. He has made two of the most successful albums of all time and that is reason enough alone. I thinking that it would be humerous if Ted Nugent inducted Meat and it would be so great if Meat then sang "For Crying Out Loud" accompanied with Jim Steinman on piano just like the old days and like the CBS Convention where it all kind've took off.

I'm assuming it's for 2004 ... have they already made the selections for 2003 ? I'm just as curious as you are bigmomma

Selections have been made for this year. I believe they make their decisions in the autumn, so we'll be sending the petition off in time for that, and then re-send it if more names get added. So the aim is to get Meat inducted in 2004 and before he's finished the world tour.

And please if you've signed the petition, remember to send a letter in the post too .. a steady stream of letters followed by a petition will have the most impact :)

Caryl:

I cannot send you e-mail at this time, as your ISP is bouncing my messages, saying you do not wish to get messages from my server. You need to have me removed from your SPAMblock or something. I have tried many, many times to respond to your continued e-mails about the Rock Hall, all of which have been bounced back. Please do not send me any more "reminders" about this, as I have not forgotten, rather you are having issues with accepting my responses.

ROCK ON FIRE BALL!!!

David, I will certainly check into this as I'm unaware of any such block on the BT server. In fact one problem with their anti-spam programme is that it only rejects messages with multi-addressees, so I continue to be beseiged with entreaties to buy Viagra or view porn when they are sent to my email address individually.

Their mail server has however been down for 14 hours today, although they have told me that mail is being held and not rejected and will doubtless flood in tomorrow. But if the server is playing up, possibly that could explain emails being returned as non-deliverable today.

In the meantime I can of course pick up PMs here :) And I'll let you know what BT say about rejecting your mails, though my understanding is that any identified as spam by the BT server are not rejected, but stored in a folder for at least a month, so I should be able to retrieve them through Technical Support.

This morning I read through all the messages left by people on ROL's Hall of Fame petition so far. They are so heartfelt and such a strong reminder of just how much Meat personifies Rock and Roll, just how much he gives people and how much he means to them. I hope he has a peek some time. Reading them may make his ears go a bit pink :) .. but he will see just how much he is loved and respected, and how strongly he has touched and enriched people's lives.

Nearly a hundred signatures so far in little more than a week. Hope we can get that to 200 by next week, 300 by the next etc. Anyone who hasn't signed and sent a letter yet, please do. (See sticky announcement here in General Messages: Help Get Meat Where He Should Be) He so deserves this!!

Yes we're around 120 now .. hope we can double that this week .. I'm surprised at how many forum members names aren't on either one though. I know the Hall of Fame is in the USA .. but Meat's American and it is a pretty big honour ..
