Guitar Tabs
This is my interpreation (by dodgy ear) and since corrected following a web search (even though I didn't get it far wrong!!!!!) of Lawyers Guns and Money written by Warren Zevon as performed by Meat and the band durng the last few tours.... those of you with a guitar can start practising now The dots in the tab represent the spaces that this software won't let me post!!
Lawyers, Guns, and Money Warren Zevon Main Riff D D D A D D D A A D D E A E (these are faster and have only 2 notes in the chord) ..D................A..........E I went home with a waitress ....D..............A...A.D.D.E.A.E The way I always do D............A.......E How was I to know? .........D.................A...A.D.D.E.A.E She was with the Russians too Main Riff ..D................A.........E I was gambling in Havana ....D............A...A.D.D.E.A.E I took a little risk D............A.......E Send lawyers, guns, and money ........D................A...A.D.D.E.A.E And get me out of this D.......E..........A.........E.A I'm the innocent bystander D...E.............A.....E.A But somehow I got stuck D.........E..........A..........E.A Between a rock and a hard place (main riff) And I'm down on my luck Yes, I'm down on my luck Yes, I'm down on my luck D............A.......E (REPEAT) Send lawyers, guns and money Send lawyers, guns and money Send lawyers, guns and money Send lawyers, guns and money |

Hey!
Hmmmmm, I'm having trouble understanding your notation because it's not in true tab form. Learn to read tab and then get back to me. Okay? Anyway, have fun. Good luck!!! Metal, Paul |

There's a whole load of Meat Loaf guitar tabs here if anyone's interested:
http://www.guitaretab.com/m/meat-loaf/tabs.htm Can't vouch for how good they are though. |

As far as I can tell from all the web based tab sites, my untrained musical ear wasn't far wrong, and as for what I posted originally not being in "true" tab form, the only difference I can see between what I posted and what is available elsewhere is that I use full stops instead of spaces, which is due to the limitations on this web board and nothing else.

No what I meant, (as I don't know what Paul meant) is that on my tab you have string 123456 down a page and then a number next it it. I will try and show you on here.
Testify (my guitar teachers version) only the intro 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 5 6. 0 0 3 0 0 3 0 0 0 0 0 3 0 Hope you understand now. |

HEY!!!!!!
I'M ACTUALLY UPSET! For the first time I'm upset with a post on this board. Not mad, just upset. Maybe I'm over reacting here but I feel that Heli is being cruel. It's so hard to translate the feel of an email. I'm concerned that I might have hurt Andy. If I came off sounding like a “rock star”, if I came off with a condescending tone I apologize. Andy, it's important to me that you know that I love the fact that you play guitar. I love the fact that you are working at making yourself the best you can be. You are a fellow musician and deserve my respect. My reply to your question is in a helpful light. I'm just stating that I can't understand "Andy notation". THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH "ANDY NOTATION"; I JUST CAN'T TRANSLATE IT INTO "METAL NOTATION". For example: Last year we were in rehearsals for about 6 weeks before the tour began. I remember Randy coming up to me looking at my notes for "Do It". It confused him because my notes looked completely different than his. To make things even more funny, Marko's looked completely different than both of ours. We laughed at each other. How did I get to be the lead guitar player for MEAT LOAF? This is an easy question. Yeah, I have the goods, I have something that my boss like’s to hear behind him. The fact is, I was just lucky enough to know someone. That’s it!!!! My point is this: Meat didn’t know me from a hole in the wall 2 years ago. I’m no better than the next guy, just different. That’s what makes guitar playing so fun. Don't stop practicing!!! I play my guitar for hours each day. Why? Because I want to be the best I can be. Better yet… IT’S FUN!!! I'm still taking lessons from a guy in my town whenever I get a free minute. His name is BB. Here's the link: http://www.badweb.com/bb/ This guy kicks my ass. It's a joke how much he destroys me. He's probably the best "blues" player I heard since Stevie Ray. This is why I practice all the time. There is always something to learn. There's always someone out there that can kick your ass (and he/ she is usually around the corner from your home). Metal, Paul |

If the chords are pretty standard, such as D, A, C, G etc, and the rhythm is simple enough, I don't see the problem with simple laying out the chords as Andy has done.
It's only with more complex rythym's and riff's that you need the proper TAB format Keb mentioned. |

I know what you mean Rob, in my collection of music I have various types of notation, but as I prefer riffs most of mine is in the notation I wrote down.

I tend to perform more folk orientated songs where it's all about the lyrics. Far more important in that style, so I just slap out chords.

Good to see Paul in these forums. There's this neighbour of mine who always used to curse me and ask what I listen to in Meat Loaf, claiming that it's not music. Then one day I was watching the MSO dvd and he happened to be there when Paul was doing his thing in 2 out of 3 and my neighbour says..."wow.. who's that funky guy... man... now that's what I call playing the Guitar". He's still not a Meat Loaf fan.... but he sure is a Paul fan.
Keep it up Paul... u make Meat sound better then he already is. |
