Here is the story from manchester Evening News.

Rock star Meat Loaf is believed to have been on board a plane which skidded off a runway at Manchester Airport.

The privately-chartered Eastern Airways jet from Hamburg was landing on Runway Two when the incident happened yesterday.

Airport officials said that there were 10 passengers on board. No one was injured. An investigation has been started.

Meat loaf had completed the German leg of a European tour on tuesday evening with a concet in Hamburg and he is understood to have been on the flight to Manchester.

The passengers were taken off via the aircraft steps and then bussed to the terminal before continuing on their journeys. The 53-year-old singer from Dallas, whose real name is Marvin Lee Aday. is due to perform at the Fitzgerald Stadium at Killarney in Ireland on saturday night.

An airline spokesman said the plane's emergency chutes were not activated. Both runways were shut for 10 minutes after the incident which happened around 3.20pm and two planes due to land had to be diverted to Birmingham and Liverpool.

That was the story in manchester evening news 30/06/05.

Thank God no-one was hurt. Hope those on board weren't too shaken up. There's no confirmation yet that Meat and the band were on board but they have been toing and froing in a Jetstream 41 since they arrived in Europe

I suppose it makes a more sensational headline but a Jetstream 41 isn't actually a jet, it's a rather smart twin turbine prop aircraft that uses A1 jet fuel. Info courtesy of my husband!

Meat Loaf in jet drama at airport

They say at the bottom of the article:
A spokeswoman for the Solo Music Agency, Meat Loaf's representatives in Britain, refused to confirm or deny that the star had been on the flight.

but if you read Kasim's Tour Diary at http://kasimsulton.blogspot.com/ you'll know that they were!

Thank God they're all ok!

I regularly walk Scrabble along the gorge and the river that Kasim talks about - so I know how close a call it was for them!
