Meatvention 2006
For all the Meat Loaf and Jim Steinman fans out there... Next year there is going to be a convention held for Meat Loaf fans, both die hard Loafers and newer fans. It is timed to coincide with Meat's birthday and the release of Bat Out Of Hell III, the reunion of Loaf and Steinman, which brought us Bat I and Bat II. It will be in Adelaide, Australia (at this stage, if we get more people from another state, it can and may be transferred to another city). Are there any Meat or Jim fans out there that would like to attend? It will be a charity fundraiser at this stage; the organising committee is still waiting on Meat Loaf to tell us which charity to donate the proceeds to. The cost for tickets will be very low (and the more people who attend, the lower it will be) and is only being charged to recoup expenses. Our website is at http://www.meatloafaust06.com Please, go and look, even those of you who have never heard of Meat Loaf, and tell us what you think on our forum. We will be showing movies, concerts, having live performances, trivia, fair day, a birthday party and Meatloafaoke. It's going to be awesome (and that's a term I use rarely). Thanks for reading; we (the committee) would love to see you all there. And we value your feedback! Thank you"

Perhaps we could arrange one for the same time in the UK, so at least we'll be "together" in spirit, if not in person?

Yes, it is a long way for you European folks!
However, for anyone planning a holiday, or to travel the world at any time soon, you have plenty of warning for where to be and when! I really like the idea of a simultaneous one in the UK. There are three of us organising the Aussie one (as you would notice on the site! :) ), so if a couple of you want to form a committee, our committee can help out with if you want. Thanks for reading! (Don't tell anyone, but we have some plans, the UK may not be out of the question sometime after the first one, which is a trial run, really). |

Lucy, Heli, Cathy and other MLUKFC members...
Shambles Inc. (MV Australia committee) would officially like to invite you to form a committeein order to hold the first ever world wide Meatvention, in 2006. Once you have formed a committee, please email the official email addy meatvention06@hotmail.com and we can begin! We look forward to working with you! (The website will be updated to reflect this change) How does everyone feel about aiming for a Guinness World record: most people worldwide singing BOOH simultaneously? |

I also think it's a great idea, but I personally think the fanclub would be better off organising it. Most of it anyway. With all our input.
I know they've been trying to put something like this together for a very long time and have thrown it out to us all on many occasions. They've done a lot for us over the yrs and I for one would like to see their efforts in the past come to something on this Deb |

As wonderful as it would be to see most of you again, I don't think many are gonna travel length and breadth of the country just to meet up with everyone in a pub without those that may come from other countries. I know Diane and Mike had loads of ideas on this before, maybe now people are taking an interest they can put them into action. Any ideas Diane? Deb |

We will need a lot of support from you if a convention is to happen as last time a questionnaire was circulated asking how many of you would be prepared to travel for a get-together the response was very disappointing. We'll keep you posted! Diane |
