Default Welcome to the Neighbourhood...or Couldnīt have said it better?

OK. folks
hereīs the next round

Welcome to the Neighbourhood or Couldnīt have said it better

Let me say first that I like both of the albums, on WTTN are some very good songs, which were written for a better production, btw, like Original Sin, Left in the Dark, or Martha.
And there are some other songs, which are not bad, but theyīre just the average stuff, nice to listen and sing along though, but not the greatest songs ever. Iīm talking about songs like If this is the last kiss, Runnin for the red light or Amnesty is Granted.
And there are song which I really dont know what I should think of: those are 45 seconds of ectasy and fiesta de las blah blah blah.
But all in all the whole album in itīs context is really not bad.

So but CHSIB is great!
Songs like CHSIB, DIST, MOS, WITE?, FY, LYOL, I could write nearly the whole tracklist here, beside Do it and Youīre right, these are the only songs that are not that good.
To me...CHSIB is the best non Steinman album Meat has done!

I very rarely listen to anything from CHSIB. Some of the tracks I'll skip if they come up in iTunes... You're Right I Was Wrong and Love You out Loud being the main offenders.

Welcome to the Neighbourhood, however, is FANTASTIC. Pure gold from beginning to end. I love every single damn song on there.

I do kinda wish that he had been allowed to record It's All Coming Back To Me Now for it (tho it's cool that Jim actually went on to have a hugely mind-bogglingly popular success with it instead).

I guess it would have gone on there instead of Martha, to fit the storyline of the album. Would have been cool to have another Steinman number on there too.

I've vouched for welcome to the Neighbourhood, this was the very first album I ever owned of Meats's (I got it as an xmas prezzie) and it's all thanks to hearing 'I'd Lie for you', I love this album from start to finish.

Have voted for CHSIB, I owned it before WTTN, so I'm more familiar with the songs on it, although I do have a soft spot for a couple of the songs from WTTN, namely Original Sin and Where Angels Sing. 45 Seconds and Fiesta really get on my ti.... nerves, whereas at the very least I like all the songs on CHSIB, and some of them I love to pieces.

CHSIB for me.

For me it's WTTN!
It was the first Meat Loaf Album I actively listened to, when I was about 10 or 11 years old. I love nearly all the songs and listen to the album a lot.
On CHSIB I like most songs, love some, but most songs are nothing special to me.

I have always said that I have enjoyed Meat's musical progression through the years, and each new album has reflected what is going on in Meat's life at the time. However, both these albums have "spoken" to ME personally in some way, but there are more songs on WTTN that do that than there are on CHSIB.

That said, CHISB still manages to blow me out of the water with its subtle change of direction toward a "heavier" sound. These were by far the hardest albums to choose between of all Meat's work. WTTN wins only by the slimmest of margins.

I've gone for WTTN, really under-rated by most people I think, I love Where Angels Sing, Original Sin, WTRMTR. Some fantastic lyrics on the album, its much more or an "album" to me than CHSIBM which is more a collection of tracks. Strange that I don't really love I'd Lie For You though.

I think WTTNH is a better Album than CHSIB because its pretty consistent through out. I love 'Chapter 1' of CHSIB with the title trcak, DIST, LYOL, and MOS. The problem, for me is that apart from 'Testify' the second half of the album isn't as good as the first.

WTTN on the other hand is fantastic from start to finish and really does feel like Meat is telling a story as the album progresses. 'I'd Lie For You' and 'Not A Dry Eye' are two of Diane Warren's best songs and really are epics. Plus both of these songs did really well as singles and can both be considered genuine hits (at least here in the UK). 'Original Sin' and 'Left In The Dark' are also great tracks, even if the production does let them down a little.

I guess my real feeling is that no other artist could have pulled of WTTN like Meat could, and probably not the first half of CHSIB. The problem for me is that after 'Testify' any other artist could probably have recorded the rest of the songs on that album, and they don't have that unique Meat Loaf sound to them. That said I do love both Albums, and CHSIB and DIST are two of my all time favouite Meat tracks.
