I like my comedy to be funny

All the over hyped comedies i've seen lately (like Be Kind Rewind, Tropic Thunder, other stuff) have had moments of real laugh out loud moments, but they are too few and far between.
Something funny will happen, you'll get a quick laugh, and then it's onto the story for twenty minutes till something funny happens again.

Guys like Laurel & Hardy are a completely different league.
Their comedy is much more rapid fire and they can keep your attention because you know if something funny isn't happening right now it's because it's building up to another laugh.

Comedy heros

And you're brave enough to confess that you're too young to appreciate a true comedy that were Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy!!!

They were true comedians!

nah, youre just not smart enough to get the good humour

seriously though,
I'm not a big fan of slapstick. I dont know why, but after the fifth time a man gets hit by a piano it's just not funny anymore for me. I can watch slapstick comedies for about ten minutes before I get bored. I rather like comedies (or movies in general) that give your brain something to do. For me it's ten times funnier if I have to think about a joke a few seconds before I get it because it's been worked around five corners, than laughing at another man's pain over and over and over and over and over and over (you see where Im going with this...)

I understand your point and was stunned at my first American show with pies flying into everybody's face...

Still and all...you have to consider times when these 2 comedians performed and give them their due...

Or maybe it is age...as I am getting older...I prefer comedies to dramas...slapstick to intricate humor, etc...life is hard enough as it is...

not saying their movies have a bad kind of humour...by god they wouldnt have millions of fans around the world then. It's all a matter of taste i guess...

Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.

One of my all time favourite films (and books), love it.

Meh... it was okay, good enough that I watched it until the end, not so good that I would buy a copy... lol..

Watched Meet Joe Black while doing the ironing earlier, then Payback after tea, and currently watching The Sting in honour of Paul Newman...

Pan's Labyrinth.
Think I'm going to need to watch it again when I can pay a little more attention, kept getting distracted last night but it seems pretty good.
