I love threads like this, so interesting to see the many and varied opinions
Interesting to see that generally no-one (though I've not re-read the entire thread) has picked songs from Bats I or II. |

I absolutely agree about the varied opinions . Funny you mention that about Bat I and II. Personally I don't like to using the words "worst songs" ... it just doesn't sound right I prefer using the words "least favorite songs" and can honestly say that I really love the way Meat sings the songs from Bat I and Bat II now better than the original records. And I really love all of the songs from CHSIB, HCTB and HIAHB Different strokes for different folks !

I know every other Meat fan will disagree with me, but I am not a fan of You Took The Words Right Out Of My Mouth. I don't know why but I have always tended to skip it when listening to Bat. I also can't listen to most of MATLAF which perhaps isn't such a surprise.

I think You Took The Words is a great song but it's just so overplayed - don't think I've ever seen a show without it done live - so if anything I would skip it because I've heard it enough.
Gonna go back through this thread and see if I posted already, wonder what I picked!! |

He stated that around the release of Midnight At The Lost And Found, so his views could have changed since then.

I must say, all his songs are great, some not as great as others, but the one that I really don't understand, or even understand why he wrote it is, In the Land of the Pigs, The Butcher is King

Jim Steinman originally wrote it as part of his Batman musical. It was to be sung by the leaders of Gotham City and directed at the poor. I don't think Jim ever intended for it to be on Bat 3, but it was in a bunch of demos that he sent to Meat and Meat liked it.

I don't have a "worst" recording per se
I do however have some songs in my mind that the production/arrangement of were not as good as Meat's voice deserved and therefore make me annoyed to some extent when I hear them. Strangely enough the greatest collection of these can be found on TMIL especially ITLOTP & BFG, Sorry but Child massacred what were amazing Steinman songs whereas Alive I think is a standout song from any album. |

Break It was my least favorite until I saw Meat perform it live Sept. 1, 2011 in Joliet, IL. It's hard to determine "wost" song and I personally think it should be stricken from this thread. As Vicki said "least favorite." An artist will can not please everyone, including himself. With that being said, there are a few songs I would consider my least favorite, such as some of the early stuff. Alghough, Meat's vocals were "on", the song wasn't the best of some compositions. For the purpose of this thread, I'm going with my two least favs are the scarey pig song and Break it...Still. |

I don't get why some people are offended by the word "worst" when every singer in history has bad song's including Meat. That just makes no since to me, Meat has even said he's done some shitty songs.

But, by definition if you are choosing your 'best' songs at the top of a list of a hundred or so songs then the ones at the bottom are the 'worst' !! |
