In the UK most theatre bookers book seats within 2 weeks of when they want to go to the theatre. I don't understand why you're so bothered about how it's selling. There's no reviews, no one's seen the show, no one's heard how great the cast are yet. Once the videos and reviews are out people will start to book.

Most theatre bookers in Manchester do not book within 2 weeks - they book well in advance. Manchester isn't a tourist city like London.

I'm guessing "Land of the Pig."

Jim's old blog entries, as you've already stated, aren't exactly what to go by, but they've mostly been right so far, which indicates to me that whatever Jim and others (such as Stuart Beattie) have done since then to the script, the shape of the score has never changed all that much.

With that in mind... on the old blog, Jim describes a scene in a factory where "Land of the Pig" is sung by corrupt taskmasters, leading into a worker's riot that includes "Life is a Lemon." Is anything like that still in the show? (Very timely if so, given the political climate in the States.)

I couldn't possibly comment ...
On the plus side, you've only got three weeks to wait until all of your questions will be answered.

I think booking depends on a lot of things.

If an established production goes on tour, then it sells out pretty much instantly.

The thing to remember is what has already been said. No one - except people like us who live and breathe these songs - really knows much except there has been a couple of interviews done about it, Meat has mentioned it a few months back and there have been a couple of internet ads. Also, as popular as Bat is in the scope of its sales gathered over 40 years, Meat's music doesn't have the "songs that are played at weddings and parties" or "always on the radio" thing that led to the likes of Mamma Mia and We Will Rock You seeming to become instant hits (I have no idea how well they did on previews and initial release, hence saying "seeming to").

But then look at something like Tanz. Hardly known by anyone in the UK unless they know their Steinman or have a good knowledge of musicals or Steve Barton and yet it's had some great runs - DOTV, not so good for obvious reasons. So, for me, once it is out, reviewed and better known it will start to fly. Until then, those who want to see it will see it, the rest will follow in time.

Okay, don't, but I will ask you this question:

Is "Land of the Pig" a song of Jim's that you love?

After the performance on the 18th expect me to write a review on my (much neglected) blog. Might be spoilers

'Most theatre bookers in Manchester do not book within 2 weeks - they book well in advance. Manchester isn't a tourist city like London.'

SIMPLY NOT TRUE. I work in Arts Marketing (Theatre Marketing) in the North West of England and have worked on productions which have gone to the Palace and Opera House in Manchester. The majority of people book 2 weeks in advance.

Massive established blockbusters book well in advance but the main bulk of tickets are still booked within 2 weeks of the performance date.

Okay, new idea. Andrew Polec says on Twitter that there is another song from Dead Ringer in the show other than the title track. We just need to figure out what song TheDoode loves from DR...

Between the end of the first performance and going up Norf will be hard for me with not reading the internet and spoilers!!

The song list top me is a spoiler even though I've kept a tab of what's confirmed :P

The woman playing Sloane just confirmed in a Facebook video that she sings a song from Bat II! (See below.) That brings the tally up to...

Bat I: BAT OUT OF HELL, TOOK THE WORDS, HEAVEN CAN WAIT, ALL REVVED UP (in new hybrid with EVERYTHING LOUDER), TWO OUTTA THREE, PARADISE BY THE DASHBOARD LIGHT, FOR CRYING OUT LOUD
Dead Ringer: DEAD RINGER FOR LOVE, other unnamed song
Bat II: ANYTHING FOR LOVE, LIFE IS A LEMON AND I WANT MY MONEY BACK, ROCK N ROLL DREAMS COME THROUGH, IT JUST WON'T QUIT, OBJECTS IN THE REAR VIEW MIRROR, EVERYTHING LOUDER (in new hybrid with ALL REVVED UP), GOOD GIRLS GO TO HEAVEN
Bat III: IT'S ALL COMING BACK TO ME NOW
Braver: WHO NEEDS THE YOUNG, SPEAKING IN TONGUES
Miscellaneous / New: NOT ALLOWED TO LOVE, WHAT PART OF MY BODY HURTS THE MOST

All totaled, and counting the hybrid as one track, we've uncovered a grand total of 19 songs (for certain, 20 if you count the unnamed DR track) so far.

I am still flabbergasted that Frying pan isn't in the show. There is quite simply no song more suited to being an act two opener than Frying pan.

If they ever make a movie it'll probably get in. 'New' tracks are a thing with film adaptations

But saying that the show is already jam packed. A lot of massive songs, long songs. Meat has never dared try that many songs in a show. We're fans but I'd defy anyone to debate that!

Paradise and Objects are operas within themselves, the cast needs to look after themselves to manage the enormity!!

Can't say anything at this point, but what you're missing definitely falls into 'latter career' territory.

I'm done here, again, for a while - incredibly busy - but hopefully see you all at some shows
