Beer, home made chilli and Bruce Springsteen live on the radio, doesn't get much better than this.
Well it does, could be there at the show, or listening to it without the annoying French DJ ... |

In Emma's absence I am holding up the side for being still awake far too late into the night.
AND I have just returned from the supermarket, which either earns me brownie points or indicates I am crazier than I thought. Was lovely and quiet though (I HATE going on weekend days!) - only saw two other customers, both as I was leaving. Never seen so many staff and crates and boxes though. Problem is ... I'm going to have to return tomorrow anyway as I thought I had suitable wine and I don't - and they don't seem to sell alcohol in the middle of the night. Have people for dinner (that is, I am feeding them - it's not that I was unable to find anything suitable to eat in the supermarket so am turning cannibal!) tomorrow evening AND Sunday evening, so the wine is a necessity! |

There are plenty of reasons why it's a good idea to go to Asda in the middle of the night. It's quiet. The roads are quiet. The shelves if not stocked are in the process of being stacked. There are barely any other customers. The staff are all pleasant and helpful and don't act as though you are an unwanted interruption to their day.
There is a very big reason why it's not a good idea to go to Asda in the middle of the night... For a start, when I got home, I couldn't sleep. But more importantly, I was then woken by a text message, FORTY MINUTES before my guests were due to arrive!! I don't think I have ever showered, cleaned the house, and started making dinner (including dessert which technically should have been started much earlier in the day!) in such a short amount of time! (actually, this kind of preparation usually takes me all day...maybe I should do it more often! haha!) |
