I love it too. The first Jurassic Park is still great. The sequels suffer from the law of diminishing returns though.

I think it's increadible what CGI was capable of 16 years ago, when most recent films dont even reach that level!

Just filling the screen with endless CGI created landscapes such as they have done in GI Joe doesn't do much for me anymore (I agree the first time it was impressive in the mid 90s). I sincerely hope it completely stops as it is just not impressive anymore imo, just boring and stupid. Actually come to think of it. Compare Jurassic Park to King Kong (2005 remake) and you will probably see what I mean. JP is awesome and scary and well thought out, King Kong is such a load of shit and it is just stupid. the thing is, you gotta know where to stop. CGI was way more complicated in 1993, so they only used it where they couldnt use puppets, and even there only in a way that it helps the story, not that it becomes the story.
While today it seems many moviemakers just wanna show off what they can do with CGI, and that becomes inredibly annoying. (-> anyone remember Jar Jar Binks?) |

Tarantino's Inglorious Basterds
One of the best flicks this year hands down. The bad guy is one of the scariest bad guys ever. Fantastic acting throughout. Great lengthy dialogues, typical Tarantino. Wish there were more movies like this, rather than the 2 second cuts MTV style CGI flick stuff. Also watched a bit of Whale Rider on BBC2 again. Still great. Has it been 7 years already?, bloody hell. |

Next. Good film let down by two things. 1) a rubbish ending and 2) Nicolas Cage playing the same boring role he always seems to play these days.

The boat that rocked
That's the kind of stuff, that got me into radio in the first place. Sadly you dont have a lot of people like that around anymore, who are really into it with their heart, and not just for the money. (the movie even had a small Meat Loaf reference in it btw) |

"Sweet Home Alabama" on TV. I changed the channel after 20 minutes; should I have given it longer?

Lesbian Vampire Killers.
Hilarious, in a lads mag kind of way, a film that runs from one-liner to one-liner and once it's finished you can't remember a single funny line in it. |

Are You Scared?
It said in the review that the end is unexpected, but frankly I quess the end.. I've seen a lots of films so the end wansn't that unexpected.. And as a matter of fact, the film was completely rubbish.. |

Didnt really think it was that great, but I guess that's often the case with 'cult classics'. Was still enjoyable though. The humour and random cutaways somehow reminded me of Family Guy, and I think Wayne's World might has been heavily influenced by this movie. |
