The first one was called 'Apocalyptica plays Metallica by Four Cellos' and does just what the title promises: Metallica covers with four cellos. "For Whom The Bell Tolls" (another Metallica cover) is from the second one, Inquisition Symphony. More covers, and for the first time - original songs. The 3rd one, called Cult consists mainly of original material, with 2 Metallica covers and a blistering rendition of Grieg's 'In The Hall Of The Mountain King' added as some sort of bonus tracks. Their last CD is called Reflections, and is their first one without cover songs. The percussion which was introduced on Cult is now used more prominently and really gives the songs more 'drive'. On some singles they use a guest vocalist (Path vol. 2 w/ Sandra Nasic (Guano Apes), Hope vol. 2 /w Matthias Sayer (Farmer Boys), Faraway vol. 2 w/ Linda Sundblat (Lambretta) and Seeman w/ Nina Hagen) - and mostly I like the result, but still prefer the instrumental versions. Seen them live twice on the Cult-tour - and they rock. Great energetic performance. While I love their stuff - Reflections is candidate for album of the year - I don't think it should be used on Bat III. So. Information no-one wants to know. :) NP: Nothing. Just the sound o'black. |
